well... you could always turn the motor, tub out the rear and get a tube frame going on... would be nice to see an evo run mid 6's and you already have sooo much R&D invested and you obviously can make the power...

For mid 6's you need around 1800-2000hp and that isnt happening with a 4g63 anytime soon..

No disprespect to brent but it runs consistent 7's.. 6.5's is the difference of 300-400whp..

sorry to take it off topic..

Quote: I have said it before and I will say it again: The daily driven, streetable, full interior, 9.4 second RS is more impressive as far as I am concerned. I don't blame you one bit. I think the Evo is the BEST street & track car there is. Once the car becomes nothing but a dedicated, unstreetable, gutted drag car it loses its luster. Lets face it, if you want a gutted tin can of a drag car that you can't drive on the street there are better platforms than the Evo. I am sure that last comment will earn me some flaming The car would still be awesome to own just to chase and set records.
I could not agree with you more

The whole concept of the Evo as a drag only car is somewhat dysfunctional

Its easy to see how Buschur could loose interest in a gutted tin can of a drag car while he has a fully road going car that handles that goes nearly as fast in a very reliable fashion

With my STI, I have kept it as a street car 100% and I have not even put a cage in it. I am having a lot more fun, enjoyment and satisfaction out of a car which I can drive around whene ever I want and mire importantly take others out for rides to share the experience.

I have kind of gone half way in my Drag Evo - maintaining a full OEM body and windows, etc kind of trying to compromise somewhere between a gutted tin can with plastic windows and a full street car. In the end, if you want to go really fast you have to mutilate the car to get teh weight down and that winds up limiting the car to a drag only use.

I think I have a few more 1/4 mile runs left in me with my Evo and I occassionaly take it out on the road for some trips to Mc Donalds ever so often to blow out some cob webs.

Its really very sad to see the Buschur black car possibly going, but I can totally relate to the lack of interest to pursue a project to go only in a straight line with an Evo

Most "smart" people dont do this sort of thing anyway, to me its like an illness or a obsession. There is no hope for me. Yes, BTW I did buy my car new at the delaer and it never came back to them for anything.

While you are my Homie Al i must disagree as 17mph difference between BR's 2 cars does not make the RS almost as fast.. I can understand 100% Dave wanting to stick to the more reliable RS which in most cases is more fun.. Maybe because i havent been at this EVO game as long as you or dave i still have the fire in me to go as fast as possible at any expense.. Not meaning $$$ either but time and effort.. The way i see it is if Shep can go 7.7 why can we not go 8.0's?? Yeah its far fetched but i watch the EVO in Europe cut 1.17 60 ft's and run 8.0's and it drives me to try and do the same.. They are even making nearly the power we make over here but they have time and effort into getting the car to leave hard.. anyway, sorry for my rant, i just hate to see the car go and trust me I would love to have that car because i know for a fact it CAN run bottom 8's!!!

Quote: The independant rear can not be put back in, why in the world would anyone want to do that.

We are not closing up! haha Not even close. Last year was our best year ever in 20 years. I think this year is going to be even better from the looks of things.

Daniel, my brother, doesn't even know about this thread to be honest. It's my car, if someone wants it, it's getting sold.

slorice, another white EVO? Maybe......About those wheels too...........
Hey Dave,

You know what you REALLY want is a RED RS to match your white one You know you want an RS with the ACD don't you!

Quote: This isn't the for sale section, yeah I know.

I am CONSIDERING selling our black drag car. The interest on our end has been low this year with too much work and other projects it just has been low.

The car ran 8.96 at 166 at the shootout on the small HTA88 turbo.

Is anyone interested in a turn key 8 second EVO? It's a drag car only, anyone remotely interested knows what it is.

I think as a company we get more mileage out of my daily driven RS running 9.4's and driving to and from the track. I know I enjoy it more as it is used for more than running down the track.

This isn't a threat to pump someone up into thinking an 8 second EVO is the greatest thing in the world but if anyone is considering building one, this one is done, legal and quite honestly with the rear end and suspension has the best set up out there right now.

You can comment here but if you are interested shoot me a PM.

Oscar, here's your chance to be the World's Quickest/Fastest, end of story
To sad to hear that David but If you have more fun in the RS what you could do good luck on your new plans and I wish I could buy it LOL Take Care RS FTMFW. BTW PM me with the Price $$$ ? And what includes

Weight is a factor which accounts for many of the very fast cars.

Sadly, drastic weight reduction efforts take away from much of what makes the Evo such a great machine.

In my mind, the Evo is a platform which can provide super car performance on a moderate budget. It and others like it like the STI are best utilized in that kind of approach - kind of like David's RS which is the best example I can think of to typify the kind of car I have in mind.

It would be good to see you buy the Black Car - it is the most well build and professional looking of the drag only cars. it is done with taste and its clean.

Glad to hear there's no financial issue's. Maybe they will have time in the future to build another evo drag car.

Still under warranty?

My car has already undergone the dreaded race car transformation or i would have taken the BR drag car home with me when i was there trust me.. The car is a steal considering they just did the rear end conversion..
