I just have to ask the question
Which shop is powering the most 9 second Evos ?
I am curious, it looks like Buschur has the lead but other shops are claiming to "power the most 9 second evos" ??
Respectfully, I would like to take a tally

Al, I've seen that too, but soon or later, the true answer becomes clear. Talk is so cheap. There's "Talk the talk" and there's "Walk the walk". This list is the "Walk the walk" list. Nice observation.
I don't know Al and we'd have to know what powering one of the car means too. I look at the top 20 list and there are cars on there that run some parts from us that don't have our name listed next to theirs. Does the car have to have someone's engine? Someone's tune? Just want to be associated with a shop?
Surely this year we've turned out more 9 second EVO's than anyone else. A lot of fast EVO's we've built in the past, and other shops have built, have never made it to the track or have and kept quiet with their results. It's pretty obvious at this point that a good combination of parts will make you very quick/fast and is more important than putting 1,000+whp in a tin can.
Looking back I've made two mistakes, the first one was cutting up our black car although it's not nearly as destroyed as most of the others and the ultimate mistake was changing the rear suspension and rear end. Then again, you don't get ahead following someone else. Look at the wing on our black car, first ones to put that design to use, now I think every other shop has it on theirs too. Some things get used and copied, others don't go so well. We need a suspension expert to sort out our car and then the records would be re-written. Instead we've put the car in storage and quit messing with it. haha

I like the reference to tin cans
No disrespect to anyone else what so ever but I have to make a comment on this
At the race this weekend there were 4 Evos in my race class
The other 3 were totally gutted, they had no interior, and had a huge amount of the stock sheet metal removed and lexan windows. No exhuast, no sway bars, etc.
Honestly, I just can not bring myself to do that to my car. While I enjoy darg racing it - its still an Evo. Maybe one day I will take it road racing and there is no reason I cant do that if I swap the front brakes and tires.
Of course power to weight ratio is hugely important in drag racing, and road racing.
In forms of organized racing, such as the NHRA there are rules which establish a even playing field so that you can have an inteligent comparison and competition.
In the world of Evo drag records, the scene has become very irrational and bizarre IMHO. Some of the players are basically completely mutilating the cars and removing everything which makes them an Evo.
For all these reasons, what David and his customers have done is even more spectacular and astonishing. When you think that my Evo and the 3 other "race" Evos at the Import event this weekend were all high 9 second cars at the event (myself included) - and 3 of them (myself included) broke. Meanwhile, David's customers are driving to and from the track and running the same high 9 second results. This should get some people's minds thinking.
The results of David's BAD BISH are even more stunning when you realize that it is an actual street car with full body and windows, exhaust, etc etc etc etc and its nearly in the 8 second range.
When you see the Bad Bish going nearly 8's with a small turbo, full street car and interior and exhaust to me that is a HUGE accomplishment.
In light of all of this, I am thinking to put up my Dyno Flash Evo up for sale to someone who wants a full body, NHRA legal 9 second drag car and build myself a new Buschur Powered 9 second street car - - OR - - take the cage and all other saftey equipment out of my Dyno Flash Evo - reinstall the head lights, wipers, etc and start driving using it as a daily driver again. Frankly, while having a drag car is fun when there is a drag event, the rest of the time its a waste of space. Having the 9 second cage IMHO makes my car very unsafe to use on the road so either that has to go or I just sell it and build another for daily use.
I had a chance to drive a 04 Evo with 2,000 miles on it today with Buschur Stage IV - man what a great car. You would be suprized how nice the car smelled inside and how great it ran on the road with so few miles. It is a total abortion to cut up and mutilate one of these fine cars and make it a drag car.
I agree with David above it was a mistake to do it to the black car.

I like your plan Al but with the history your car has I think putting it back more to street use would be the actual best plan. You'll just be limited when and where you can run the car after that. Think how nice your car would be if you didn't have to squeeze in through the cage!! Whatever you plan on doing you can count on us to help if you need it.
I wish we hadn't messed up our black car so badly. I can bolt doors on it and weld a core support in it, that would fix 99% of what we did, we didn't really cut much on the car. The rear end though......................that was a $17,000 mistake right there. My street car has better sixty foot times than our drag car.

very nice thread, shows the great support you guys give each other. I haven't really kept up on who's doing what lately but looks like you guys are killing it in all directions. I agree on the street car, and I tell it to everyone that asks... keep the Evo as daily driver as possible. Davids street car is just a prime example of having the best of both worlds, fast and streetable great job!

I have a track three blocks away
