goin to the drag strip
goin to the drag strip
Need you guys to settle a debate with my friends and I. I am going to LACR drag strip. This track is high elevation and my friend says turbo cars dont get affected as much by higher elevation that NA cars. Is this true
Altitude Correction
LACR is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
To figure the altitude factor the formula is as follows:
ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .97
MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.03
This will give you the ET & MPH at sea level.
Does that only apply to NA cars or does it also apply to turbo cars also. IF there are any scientists here please explain.
My friend says that the turbo compensates for the higher elevation, but I think it doesnt matter if it is a turbo, supercharger, or NA.

Hey LACR is a crappy *** runway, i really with there was something closer and better. Anyway yes it slows you down turbo or not, just a bit less when u have turbo, but it slows you down none the less. Like i said, crappy track and they play favorites with the domestics.
Anway, PLEASE email me your times at emailabtin@yahoo.com so i can compare. PLEASE. thanks.

The reason why Turbo cars are Less effected (Super charged cars are just as bad as NA, worse even as they are more detonation prone) as the Turbo Employs a wastgate, so say you set you car to 15PSI at Sea level, then you go to a place that is a Mile up, which has 20% less air. The wastegate is still set to 15psi, so the turbo will shuve 15PSI into the motor, it may have to spin to say 18PSI to get 15psi, and the FMIC may not cool as well, so you are working the car harder and still lose a little power, but not as bad.
