Almost stock and in the 12's?

Gotta give it to you guys. A buddy of mine raced his buddy's EVO VIII at the track last Friday. Mods are open air intake, 3' turbo back exhaust and sAFC II on stock boost. EVO is #805.
Run 1: Missed 2nd gear.

Run 2: Fastest run that night.

That's right. Stock boost. I didn't believe it too but I saw it run that time. There's no MBC/EBC in that EVO and he told me it was running stock boost!

The owner of the car (not a very good driver) was able to run his best of a 12.8 later that evening. I don't have the slip for that. I forgot to add, this was on CAM 2 (leaded 110).

Awesome times.

I'm especially impressed with the 111 MPH traps.

Actually it was a silver EVO. The owner works at Lipscomb Mitsu.

I don't remember who he raced in the first run but the second run was against an OZ rally Lancer. It got .

GTVEVO, I drive a black Talon "SLOW 91" if you have seen me around town.

i wonder if the guy meant that his boost is AT stock level.. which is 19.5psi.. in most cases, if it holds 19.5 to psi he most likely has a mbc.. cus that gives quite a few hps compared to the avg 16psi at redline..

however, i've just read about a few people who seem to have weird evo's that hold that boost to redline even without getting a mbc.. i'm guessing that's why there are such differences between the evo's times around the country..

Who's exhaust, who's intake, and who tuned the computer? was it sent out like that or did he tune it?

It's possible. I heard him mention the boost jumping sometimes to 21psi but he has no boost controller. I will try and get more details on the car. It's kinda hard coz I sleep during the day. Hopefully by this weekend I should break it down or get Andrew (the guy who drove it) to give more details. I was just a spectator.
