11.8 @ 119

First off thanks to the people/things that made this happen:
OpenECU, tephra, mrfred, jcsbanks, razorlab, johnbradley, mlsspilot.

I didn't really speak with these people directly, but it was their posts on the forum and the information that I gathered to tune my car. I did a lot of searching.

So yesterday I installed my fmic and headed to Darlington Dragway. I ran with about 9 gallons of e85 in the tank with full weight, spare tire, jack, my tools, etc.

First pass was 11.8 @ 110 mph with a 1.7 sixty feet time. I hit the rev limiter very early and shifted to 5th.
My second pass I raised the rev limiter and stayed in fourth and ran 11.8@119 with a 1.8 sixty feet time. My 1/8th mile numbers were 7.6 @ 92mph. I was spinning pretty bad out of the hole. I was pretty happy with this mph so I decided to leave and drive 2 hours to get home. If I could hook I suspect mid 11s, but that's bench racing.
Mods are: Green, cosworth m2, intake, tbe, fmic, 1250cc inj, walbro, act 6 puck, prolite flywheel, bov, mbc, e85, and self tuned.

I didn't read too deeply but I am confused how you ran a 11.8@110, then added 9mph to your trap speed but didn't improve your ET? (with only a .1 slower 60ft)...

IDK! The first run I was bumping the red limiter hard and finally decided to shift to 5th gear. Also the first run had a 1.7 60' feet time. The general consensus is .1 in the 60' is about .2 in the E.T. Also after each run I check my logs and make adjustments as necessary. Timing wasn't changed, but I made sure AF was good before I was at the strip and at the strip as well. This is why I said if I could have gotten the same 60' on the second pass I would have had a much lower E.T.

The first pass was like 1.712 60' and the second pass was like 1.825 60'

evoseb08: I have run 12.1 @ 113 on pump with a stock fmic on a hot day. e85=win

One final note is the power was there on both runs, but the gearing/rev limiter held me back on the first run.

Probably because he was headed towards an 11.6 or so pass on the first one but ended up hitting the limiter and pretty much coasted across the line at 110mph.

Good runs bambooi. E85 is good stuff

cool, it's a nice feeling to meet or exceed your goals and drive home unscathed

To be honest I don't think the result is impressive. I thought you have stock turbo with pump gas but after I saw your mod list, you have upgrade turbo w/ cams and E85! You could do better than that. I am guessing it's your tune, I don't know how good of tuner you are, but if you are not a very experienced tuner maybe have 4ws tuning or Mellon tuning to look at your tune.

there's more in it, "My second pass I raised the rev limiter and stayed in fourth and ran 11.8@119 with a 1.8 sixty feet time"

I probably could have run more, but I decided to drive home and go to work at 6 am the next morning. I got home at 1230 A.M. leaving the strip at 10ish. 119mph is good for low to mid 11s. You are also correct about tuning. I don't have as much experience as mellon, but with more experience I hope to become better at tuning. If I let someone else tune it, I will never get better. I drove 2 hours to the strip and made 2 passes with new I/C, and a new e85 tune. I might hit the strip again, but I'm pretty happy with 119 mph on a green. Keep in mind this is a full weight/interior car/spare tire/etc. A lot of the people that post on this part of the forum strip their cars or run motorcycle slicks or drag radials. That factor changes the gearing which helps significantly versus the IX shorter 3/4th gears. 60' times are also very important to low e.t.

Cliff notes: Learning how to tune, first time at quarter with e85 and new I/C. Happy with setup and self tuning accomplishment.

yep, you should be proud of that, shake the haters off hehe. It'll be interesting to see what you can squeeze out of it next time. Did you log your runs down the 1/4? that data should help a ton with the tune next go around.

Yep sure did. I'm going to fine tune it more. I was getting ready to make a 3rd pass. I looked at my slip and saw my mph and I was pretty happy. I got out of line and went home. I was thinking, if something breaks, I would have to get a tow truck and get it towed 2 hours home so I left.
