Why is my Evo slow?

So I went to the 1/8 mile this weekend.

I have the following mods:
HKS Downpipe
JIC catback
GReddy ProfecB SpecII EBC
SAFCII

Here's the whammy: I trapped at 75mph, with an ET 8.9.

That is the absolute BEST I could do. Granted my 60ft was only 1.9, which is eh, but regardless. What gives? I think even Stock Evo's are trapping at least 80mph!

I went to Natural Bridge 1/8 track down in VA, elevation was 2000ft and temp was around 70-80... kinda hot, but still. I don't get it! What gives? Is my Evo really really THAT WEAK?

What are SAFC settings based off (I.E. Datalogger or EGT gauge and A/F gauge) or did a shop set it up. 2000Ft and 80 degrees could play a factor too.

I haven't gotten dynotuned, so I'm using fairly conservative baseline settings:

2800 +1%
3400 +1%
4000 -2%
4600 -2%
5200 -3%
5800 -4%
6400 -8%
7000 -11%
7600 -11%

loTH - 55%
hiTH - 75%

Not that the TH settings should matter since I'm at WOT anyway.

Theres no datalogging programs or anything out for the EVO yet is there? That would be the ticket if you don't have a dyno to constantly tune it. Yeah the TH points are kinda null and void but the low point seems kinda high, I would guess 30 - 35% would be optimal.

Set low at 30-35 and high at 60-65 might help some

It's ALL in the launch. Cut a 1.8 60ft and you'll see a huge difference in times, then a 1.7 and you'll run 12's. I have had one good launch (my last one! so I'm getting better!) and it made a HUGE difference in my times. I'm hoping to get a 1.7 60 with my new clutch and abit of practice.

tune her on a dyno and you'll be good... too bad the closest is probably Pruven CT... dynoflash will help you out with that problem. Get a few guys together and They'll come to you.

I know at least two places in the DC area with AWD dynos -- Altered Atmosphere in Gaithersburg and Curry's in Sterling -- and I'm pretty sure there are others as well. Considering what you've spent on mods, invest in an hour of dyno time. Ask in the Mid-Atlantic forum for one of the SAFC owners around here to come by and help you out with tuning it -- I know some of them have been down that road already and gotten some nice HP gains.

I was Thinking more like Low TH 30% and Hi TH 80%., but then a gain we are vearing off topic the Th points do not affect his E.T.'s and Trap speeds.

I started a thread in the Drag Racing forum about this...

I took my EVO to the 1/8 mile strip a few months back when it was hot. I ran a 9.1 @ 77.6 mph with a 2.0 60 ft. That was totally stock. Now that it's cooling off, I took it back this Sat. First pass I ran a 8.7 @ 78.7 mph with a 1.8 60 ft. This was with a HKS carbon-ti cat back only. I was thinking since it was hot last time my mph should improve, but it really didn't. Even with the cat back on as well.

I'm going back this weekend and I'm gonna try to pull a 1.7 60 ft. and see what I'll get then. I think it can be done. I think the EVO should be good for a 8.5 or 8.6 sec. pass IMO. Just need to learn to drive this bish a bit better and not pay attention to the car next to me.

I know my 8.9ET is due to my 1.9 60'. But what about my 75mph trap speed??

The fact remains I'm trapping 75mph, which is RIDICULOUSLY low for the amount of mods I have... and the trap speed isn't even really an indicator of a good launch, that's what the ET is for. Trap speed just helps determine about how much power you're making. Which is why I'm worried about my power output...

I do want to get on a dyno as soon as possible, but it seems like I'm running even slower than the average Evo....
