I'd be more than happy with that. Clearly I wasn't on the throttle enough. I'll redeem myself in one week.
The reason for bogging is because you let the clutch out to fast and the tires gripped...
slip the clutch a little bit more... This is how i do it... imagine when your at the light that you have two big sticks facing string up in the air on your tires (like a field goal) you want to have those sticks make 1 full rotation and face straight up again... thats how long you slip the clutch... long enough to get about 1 full rotation of the tire...
if you bog.. slip a little bit more... or vice versa... if you get off clean with now bog, try slipping a little faster.. you will find the sweet spot to how fast you can slip... you will see your 60's change drastically
Preloading the drivetrain is simply slowly letting go of the clutch until you start to feel the car begin to pull forward ie everyting starting to engage... you hold the clutch at that point (pre loaded) and start the 2step... then slip from there.
This prevents the blunt force impact of dumping the clutch and slamming gears and components... this will save your tranny and transfercase

Thanks for all of the info in this thread. I'm in the same place as the OP, my first run ever (yesterday) was a 13.57 @ 111.15, and my 60' was horrible (2.4X).
My brother didn't call it pre-load, but he told me to start doing that and I only got 1 run in like that. Makes perfect sense and I'll be going back for round 2 in a week.

^ what you should be doing is stage on the 1st yellow and stop... start letting out your clutch to you feel it begin to creep forward... let it kreep forward holding the clucth at that level till second stage lights go on and back off the clutch just a little bit....
use the preload to your advantage so that when your second staged your already preloaded get me?
Now your staged, preloaded and ready to enter 2 step

I got 6 runs in last night. My first run was my best of the night and I'm happy with the improvement. 3 runs were 12's. Thanks for the help thus far gentlemen.
I was getting wheel hop a few of the runs. Does that mean I'm slipping too little or too much? I'm preloading the drivetrain so when the second stage light is on the slack is gone and I'm ready to go.
Here's the results
60' 2.131
330 5.606
1/8 8.394
MPH 87.28
1000 10.826
1/4 12.836
MPH 112.30

wheel hop sounds like you are letting off a lil too quickly or your tires arent quite gripping. my first runs ever (years ago in a 1ga eclipse gsx) were horriffic. but even so, a lot of fun. i dont drag my evo often, mainly use it for autocross, but the same rules apply to a certain extent. i just got into it, get my tail kicked every event, but am having a blast.
rule#1. have fun, this is of utmost importance, win or lose, u get to drive a car as fast as possible in a safe, closed environment.
rule#2. learn. the more time you are out there, the more you will learn, the better you will get, and the more rule 1 comes into play.
rule#3. get AAA membership, lol.

Here's a video

nice video, def looks like u could be a lil quicker out of the gate. with your ET you can def find some more time going down the track, when i was running 12.8's, i was cutting about 108 mph with 1.8-1.9 60' times. still a lot to gain on my car as well.
keep having fun, hope you see 11's this year.

Wheel hop is not good. Reccomendation next time u get wheel hop is to push in the
Clutch and sacrifice the run. Wheel hop causes alot of stress in the drivetrain and will break something.
To prevent either spin more or less. Your caught in that line of grip and no grip. And with a stock suspension or soft suspension it will begin to hop.
It's not good. Sacrifice the run not the

Dont beat yourself up. You said it perfect, though your times were bad, you had fun. Having fun is what it is all about. I am sure you will get better times next time you hit the track. Be sure to post up the new times. I'm interested in hearing how you do. Good Luck man.
Lower tire pressure.
Stop granny shifting. Focus on shift points based on where your power starts to fall.
Get that feel for the initial launch.
Don't worry what the person in the other lane is doing.
Have fun.

In the video I posted above I didn't even care about reaction time as it wasn't an elimination round. I just wanted to focus on me doing my first 2 step launch, it wasn't too bad except for the wheel hop. Thankfully the other 5 launches weren't like that.
Lastly I think I'm running lower boost than I was tuned for. I'm going to look into getting a X MAP sensor so I can log boost. I'm finding it hard to believe that I'm going to get an extra 10mph out of my car in the 1/4. Only thing that makes sense is if the boost is lower than 26.2 and I'm missing out on some power.
look up no lift to shift and see if its right for you,you need tephra mods installed on your ecu to do this im sure you can ask some one on here that deals with tunning and if you have the cable you can do it your self i dont have the file needed but if you lookup mdrperformance or another tunning place im sure they can hook you up with the file. here is an article the breifly describes th nlts mod
