Track times
I am wondering if anyone has been to a track lately. I saw a new vehicle in the registry that ran like a 17.8 stock in the 1/4 mile. (US lancer)
There were 1.5L mirages doing better than that stock I'd be pissed if this is what I can expect. Moving to Orlando and can't wait to get on a real track so I have a base time to work from.
anyone?

Oh BTW our cars are 500 pounds heavier and have 30 more HP. I had a mirage.

One track is on S.R 50 east of orlando.
They have the track open to the public on wed and friday nights from 6 to 11. You get time slips for your runs on these nights. It cost 10 dollars per person to get in. They also have a thing on the first friday of every month where they have street legal cars only from 10 pm till like 2 or 3 in the morning and they dont have the clock on so you are only racing against the person next to you. They have a website but I can't recall it off hand. Thought it was orlandospeedworld.com but that one doesn't seem to bring up the right site.

I have a few good runs with lil OZ lancer I run a 16.3. the stock tires suck hard. All i have done is replaced my stock airbox filter with a K&N filter and has made a world of difference. I can feel a difference in the 1500 to 4000 rpm range. normally you would feel the car choking but now it runs better and a lil faster. For the 17.1 time thats not to bad cause all the car mags say that they made the car run a 16.8 My advice dont rev the engine high cause the stock tires cant grip and they will spin and smoke. trust me Good luck at the tracks.

Different tracks produce different numbers. Weather plays a HUGE factor too. I ran my slowest times ever, on a brand new track under near tropical conditions, slowed my car by over 2secs compared to racing in the cold dry fall air, at sea level.

True when i got my good time it was aroudn 6pm in the evening at national trails raceway in east columbus. yeah the track and weather play a big part. on memorial day weekend i raced my buddy who has the new cavalier thats tricked out stock and i beat him in the 1/4 from light to light. one of my victories and many more to come.

My times look incredibly slow but I beat an integra gs-r by .002 sec and a mustang gt by 4 tenths. Running in the 16's at my track is camaro ss and mustang gt territory.

I hear Subaru ECU's adapt really well to weather. I bet if you'd taken 10 more runs your computer would be used to the change in weather and and sprinting and probably run better. I can only assume this was in the 2.5.
EDIT: Yeah, wags...them stock yokos spin like old 78's if you gun it. I'm really happy with my falkens...especially when it rains.

That brings up a good question I just run the stock tires that came with my lancer the OZ edition what tires you people are running? I was told that paradas are good cheap tires for summer fun. I have hardly any tread on my fronts now and i only have 6k on the car. Any suggestions?
