I ran two different time trials (electronicaly timed) with my stock Evo.

Beaverun (www.beaverun.com) - 1:08.2
Summit Point (www.summitpoint-raceway.com) - 1:31.7

I was pleased with the Beaver run day. I did it during a hyper fest when the Honda-Challenge guys were there. I was only 2.7 seconds slower than the fastest hybrid honda which was a ITR powered CRX, gutted and running slicks and race brakes....

I was not pleased with Summit Point. It was fairly hot (90F+) and I had my intake hose pop off after 2 laps of the first session.... for some reason I was just a little gun shy after that. They had to tow me back and I missed the entire session. I did manage to be 2 seconds faster than a S2000 that was there and he has been to several track events.... i was however something about 6 seconds slower than the fastest Hybrid at Summit..... the big straight killed me... i was hitting 125mph and they hit 135+

While I was at Roebling Road in Savanah, GA running stock on stock street tires, I was unofficially posting a time around 1:32 per lap.

What event was it?

Are you a solo driver? How did the front turn in? I have read that the Evo have a big push but that just maybe on tight corners.

Couple of other items - where did you shift to 5th at - before start/finish or after and did you see your top speed at end of straght?

I have gone to Roebling a bunch of times and know the track fairly well.

Thanks

It was the THSCC/TriangleZ Club http://www.thscc.com/timetrial/index.html on September 20-21.

I was an intermediate student, it was my first time at that track. I felt the turn in was awesome. I didn't have any trouble with understeer. Understeer is only a problem at VERY low speeds but if you position the car right, it can be kept to a minimum (autox). I had to work up my nerves in turn 3, but eventually I was entering around 75mph or so. With it being such a flat turn, it seemed unnatural but the car gripped like mad. The car could have probably gone faster in to the turn, but not with me behind the wheel that day. If you get a little wide in that turn, you can pickup a lot of pebbles so my line was what I was concentrating on the most. My *** started to slide out on the carousel (turn 7) but I was easily able to keep it from getting away from me. It was fun. I felt the car had awesome balance in the turns and when you lift of the throttle, the rear end would start its rotation so predictably and smooth. No snap oversteer. The brakes were absolutely phenomenal at the end of the straightaway. I was shifting to 5th before the start finish line however, the car did not get to the speeds that everyone else was expecting. I was hitting about 125-127mph before hammering the brakes. Most people thought I should be just over 130 but I felt like the car stopped pulling after about 115mph. It seemed to creep after that. An ECU should take care of that problem, keeping the boost on strong up to the redline.

What do you drive?

Why was this moved to the "Drag Racing" forum. I don't get that. The Evo does have a steering wheel!

I have a 1993 RSA and just purchased a 2003 Evo and am curious how it will compare. The RS is really great at the track - Roebling top speed is about 142 at the 200 ft marker. Turn 3 that you mentioned in the RS is pretty much flat out from the apex and around 105 before ready to brake.

Hopefully we may see each other at an event there or maybe Sebring, Road Atlanta.

If you haven't done Road Atlanta - it is a must - Roebling is like kindergarten in comparison.
