First runs in Evo
First runs in Evo
So I bought my Evo8 not too long ago and just had my first two runs last week, wouldn've liked to have had more but got there late and it was packed. According to the VirtualDyno it's at 535hp/487tq on E85. The only mods I have since then was a Sun Auto Hyper Force ignition amplifier, so maybe 5hp more. My first run was ruined by a horrible launch. It's been 5 years since I ran at the track and took a run to remember exactly what not to do. Anyways, run number two went a lot better. It was 11.625 @119.6mph. I guess my main question is what should I be doing to run better times? I know working on my launch is gonna be a huge difference since it was a 1.844 60ft. Where should my shift points be? I'm almost at redline it 4th when I hit the 1/4 mile line. Right now I have the rev limiter for launch set at 5800rpms. Thanks for the help in advance!

And could shifting too early/late cause me too lose 8-11mph trap?

I wouldnt think there would be any way in hell to lose 8-11 mph due to shifting unless you missed two gears and chaged radio stations between the others lol. Seriously though, what kind of mods are on the car? typically a 420whp or so car will trap 120 some even less than that so i would say if you are running a big set up you need to check the tune. 535whp should have you into the 10's i would imagine even with poor shifting. Maybe the VD pull you made wasnt on flat ground or something happen to the data.
The car hasn't actually seen a real dyno since there isn't one in my area that's awd... so I'm not exactly how sure the VD in EvoScan is... I do know that soon I'm gonna need a new tcase most likely... the last owner kinda tore it up and it's definitely seen better days

FP Red and Intake w/ AEM filter
Titek o2 housing
BR 3"exhaust w/ magnaflow muffler
GSC S2 cams
ETS UICP w/ Tial BOV
Turbo XS FMIC
SunAuto HyperForce
Exedy Twin HD
Hallman MBC
It still has stock LICP, exhaust manifolf, intake manifold, and throttle body
After one run I honestly couldn't tell you. I was more more worried about getting in a solid run since I was the next to last car to run that night. I was trying to keep it around 7200-7500 when shifting.

Best time I ran so far this season was 11.84 at 119.7 with a 2+ second 60 (run flat tires that were too small and a slipping clutch
...both replaced now)
