Proper launch technique?

I'm trying to get better at drag racing my evo.

What's the proper way to launch it? I've seen a few videos where the handbrake is involved, I don't use it at all

Any tips?

I'm using launch maps, 2 step at 5800 rpm, street tires

Thanks

How do you slip the clutch and/or dump it? What's the difference and what affects do they both have?

What I do when I drag is I rev to about 3k-4K and then when it comes time to go, I let out the clutch and press the gas, but not all the way. At least not until I've gotten to a point where I know my tires wont spin.

Or, even better, if you have launch control.... there's your ticket.

I'd no on atc… what I do and have heard on this site is practice make perfect:-) lol. Dumping is just letting out fast and you will break stuff. You want to stage it do like your doing at 3800-4000 then when tree is to 2nd stage wot to your 5800 and then let clutch out a hair till you fell grab this is we're hand brake can come in to hold you for a sec then when green slowly let half way then rest of way and its takes a few try's to get it right. When you drop it like you say around 4000 your probably getting bog and slow start. Just practice it and you'll get better.

The way that I've used and explained it 100X is this, pretend like you are pulling your foot out of dog poop... that's a proper slip of clutch on Evo.

Funny thing is I'm being 100% honest and it works. It takes the worry of thinking too much out because it all comes from relaxation and feel. Each Evo I've driven seems to be a little different. As soon as I heard that technique I became pretty consistent with my launching.
