Buddy with a WRX challenged me to a drag, so naturally I couldn't back down. Going to Irwindale this Thursday. Could use as many pointers to save face, so keep the advice coming! Shift points, launch tips, tire pressures, pre-race checks, the works.

I have a stock 08 GSR with All-Weather Ultra Performance tires. Racing a stock 10 WRX.

I know that 90% of the battle is the launch and the shift points, so any help on that would be welcome. Also, in know she was built for performance, but I don't want to overdo it or mess something up and break her, so what preventative measures shouldn't take as well? Obviously make sure the fluids are topped off, but what else?

Slip the clutch don't dump it.

 

I would try to drop weight.
Remove rear seats spare tire and jack.

launch it on the last yellow light, by the time the car is moving itll turn green. It'll drop your rt =)

 

handbrake when you light up first light. let clutch out till its about to go light up second light and rip that hand brake down and go
