Need launch lessons!

I currently have a 8 thats pretty heavily modified. However about 2 months ago I launched it, made it through second and popped the retainer clip for the tob. I definately think I over did it. I slipped the **** out of it and Im pretty sure thats why my clutch is glazed too (comp 6 puck). I was honestly afraid for the transfer and rear end as they are stock. What do I need to work on to properly do this without breaking stuff. Or frying the clutch again!

I am installing a new comp stage 3.5 with there lightweight flywheel this time. As well as doing a COP setup.

466whp and 380wtq.
Here are my mods

Manley crank and rods 2.0
wiseco pistons
Crower 272's
Precision 6262
Halman pro controller 28psi
2.5 inch piping
Tial bov
precision wastegate
JMF intake manifold
AEM EMS V2
Shep stage 3 trans
solid underhood, driveshaft, shifter base bushings
torque solutions short shifter
Replacing comp 6 puck with comp stage 3.5 clutch
comp ultra lightweight flywheel
ACT monoloc tob clip
stock rear end and transfer.
walbro 255 with rewire
magnaflow turbo back exhaust

where is the 2 step set at? mines is just ard 5800 rpm, just hold it to where the 2 step kicks in and then floor the throttle and slip out quickly, don't stay on the clutch too long as this will burn it and you won't be going anywhere.I use this technique all the time i cut 1.7 to 1.6 60ft.It comes with practice don't do it on the streets i will more recommend it on the track and as you can see your results from the time slip plus you have better traction there as well good luck.

ya you most likely just let it slip to long, the trick is all in timing and really knowing your clutch pedal, when the 2 step is going have the pedal to the floor, ease off the clutch, when the 2 step stops (should right as the clutch starts to engage) dont dump the clutch but let off it fast.
it takes practice and i personally dont launch my car, too much risk for a second of extreme pull
but if you still want to try as i said
good luck

might I suggest a clutch fork stop to prevent that retainer clip from popping off again

I have one. It actually crushed the clip, or the fork stop would have helped.

This time Im using the new ACT MONOLOC TOB clip and a fork stop too.

Its a launch control feature that is done with an ECU flash/mod. (1) The car has to be at a stand still. (2) Press the clutch in. (3) Press the gas peddle to the floor. The rev's wont go past the set RPM's that it was set to. While the motor is reving it builds "boost" so when you let off the clutch you will have no "lag" and the car will take off like a rocket. Mine was set to 5500rpm's. (4) Start to slip the clutch and when you feel it to engage let it out in a steady motion. Do it right and it's a blast! And if it's done wrong well you will know.
