New clutch time

Ok, so my clutch started slipping last night.

Cobb AP shows I have 358whp and 374tq.

My future goal is 450whp and 450tq or somewhere around that. I am 90% sure that I want to go E85.

My choice clutch would be exedy twin HD, but also I'm not trying to break the bank. I also know that upgrading the clutch would mean getting an upgraded CMC, either SSP or MAGNUS kit. And if I get the exedy twin, I have to buy new throw out bearing.

As of now, I have two options

Option 1:
Exedy twin HD
upgraded CMC
throw out bearing

Option 2:
Comp clutch stage 3 with lightweight flywheel
Upgraded cmc
New shifter bushing
Cobb Short shifter
Cobb BOV
Fuel pump
E85 conversion
And a tune.

Feel free to add a new option, on how u gonna go about it.

Option 2 looks really good, but either way, all the extras on option 2 will be installed regardless in the future. What I'm ultimately asking is exedy twin an end all for my worries and future goals? Or is the comp clutch stage 3 is all I need for that power goal? I may or may not go over the 450 limit (550 max) so is it a good decision to go with exedy twin or just stay with the cheaper comp clutch stage 3?

I think either option is fine though I don't know why you wouldn't want to change the TOB either way, as you are in there already.

I've head great things about the Exedy though I'm partial to ACT clutches as I've had nothing but great results - though only road race the car, never drag.

I say go with option 2. (since you get more parts) I personally have...

TWM STS
TWM full bushing replacement
TWM shifter cage replacement
MT-85 fluid
AMS CMC

All that installed and she shifts like butter. I still gotta install my ACT 6 puck clutch and Streetlite flywheel.

Thanks for the numbers, I was actually looking for those numbers but all I've seen is "150%" over stock. Well, if it's 150% over stock, then that must mean over 600tq, to which I'm calling bull. Thanks Dominic for actual figures.

The comp clutch price difference between stage 2 and 3 is minimal so it won't matter too much. And if I do go over 450hp/450tq, I'll be a happy camper either way. What matters to me is the harshness of the clutch engagement. I have a 6 mo old daughter that rides with me from time to time when my wife is at work.

Another thing is, would the AMS ring be enough or should I go with peace of mind and just get a Magnus CMC kit?

I believe throw out bearing is included in the comp clutch, please correct me if I'm wrong.

my first 2 attempts at installing it myself with my buddies failed. First time was at the base autoshop on the hoist. I had pretty much everything removed but needed to remove the axle stub to drop the tcase and tranny. I bought the wrong size ready rod to screw into the stub. That was on a saturday and a shop that had the correct size wasnt open until monday. So i put the car back together.

Since its the Canada Day long weekend i had/have from Friday - Tuesday off but the base shop was closed so i attempted it at my place on floor jacks. Couldnt get the car high enough to get a good spot for my tools to get the axles out so i said **** it. Debating if i just wanna say **** it and bring it to the dealership this week or attempt to do it again at the base shop this weekend.

As for the gear lock out. When i put everything back together, including popping the stock TOB back in, i was locked out of all gears. Turns out the TOB wasnt 100% in all the way and kept popping out. So if you install a clutch or have someone do it and that happends. First thing to check is the TOB which can be done by removing the service grommet under the tranny.

You can use the any stock type pressure plate if its not glazed or damaged. But I just realized you had a X this is for a 8 or 9 sorry about that.

It's a wear item, you want to replace it as well, and resurface or replace the flywheel.
