New best!
New best!
I ran yesterday at Fayetteville Motorsports park in NC. The weather was in the upper 50's. This was the first time out since breaking in the the new HKS GDmax clutch.
First launch with the clutch got a 1.73 60' time. Ran a 12.75 @ 106 mph while misshifting into 4th gear.
The best of the day was:
60' : 1.723
1/8 mile ET: 7.919
1/8 mile MPH: 86.42
1/4 mile ET: 12.365
1/4 mile MPH: 111.80
Mods are:
Dynoflash
HKS downpipe
UR 3" testpipe
B&B 3" Catback
HKS Super Mega flow filter
Greddy Profec B Spec 2
HKS Twin Disc Clutch
Greddy Type S BOV
HKS Super AFR (tuned slightly)
B&M shifter
Ran 110 octane fuel as well.
I have a fuel pump and 264/264 cams waiting to install. I want to see how fast I can go with this combination first. This was the first time to the track with the new clutch and the first time that I tried to launch it with the new clutch was on my first run.
5 of my 6 runs were 1.79 60' or better. The best 60' was a 1.717 .

Brian-
Great times (even if you're using the juice). Seems like that clutch is really helping the 60' launch
Cams will help you out a bunch; don't think the fuel pump upgrade will make a difference b/c the stock pump and injectors are not yet maxed out.
I'd love to get together and see your car. I'm looking at doing the stand alone computer some time down the road. I'd reccomend this to you aswell. I have a guy that is a factory trained installer. He did Evo Ate's car (Angier, NC). $1,600 bucks, plus, tough...

I don't think the juice (110 octane) helped me out all that much. The boost won't hold on the top end. The boost would drop to 22 psi on the top end. It would spike a little higher in 2nd gear, but fall off to 22 psi up top. I ran 107.3 mph with 93 octane before the clutch upgrade. With the dynoflash, the car runs really well, even on higher boost with 93 octane. The pocket logger showed pretty good timing number even at the higher boost on the 110. I don't know how much timing I would have had without the high octane gas.
Not going the stand alone route. This is a daily driver. I want to have a high 11 second daily driver. I want to drive to track, and put in the race gas, turn the boost up a little and run high 11's. That is my goal. Stock drivability and reliability. I am sure I can do that with the Dynoflash.

T-dog,
Very nice times! Those are some of the best 60' times I have seen anyone do in an evo8. I wish I would have run my car with the test pipe on my best run (below).
Give us more details: scan timeslip, full weight or stripped down a bit???

Thanks Smogrunner.
The car was 100% full weight. Including my 220 lbs self. Spare tire was in and 1/3 tank of gas. I will see if I can scan the time slips and try to post them.
Oh yeah, BTW, I cut a .5046 reaction time on that run. That is one of my best also.

I agree TURBODAWG, I do not really think that the 110 octane helped much in your circumstance. Only if the ECU and boost are tuned to take advantage of the extra octane will it really help. All the increasd octane does is prevent detonation, if the ECU does not have advanced timing to the point where you need the extra points of octane, or more boost is run to need the extra octane rating, you will not see a benifit in the race gas from what I understand. In other words those numbers should hold true on 93.
That is good!
I ran a 1.77 60' on sotck clutch and engine. Low 60' times are possible even with the stock clutch. Once I get the new parts on, I'll head to the track and try to beat the 1.71

1.77 60' is real good on a stock clutch. My launching style does not mix very well with the stock clutch. I rev to 5K and slip it out as the throttle goes to 100%. Stock clutch hates that.
