New best!
I have the mail in dynoflash. This is a very safe program that is not on the fine line of air/fuel or ignition tuning. Because he can't tune my car in person, I have to have this dynoflash. I am sacrificing about 15 awhp (or more) by having this tune instead of the custom tune for my specific car. I am counting on the Super AFR to more finely tune the car when running race gas and at the track. I am using O2 voltages from my Pocketlogger during the run to get an idea of where my air/fuel ratio is. It is not super precise, but can give you an idea of what is going on.
To answer your question. You can definitely run the dynoflash without the AFR, and run fast. It is a real good safe tune on 93 octane for sure. The only thing that you would do is lean out the mixture a little to get the very most out of your car at the track. The best way to do this is by using a fuel tuner and a wideband.

Isn't it better if you just get XEDE or UTEC if you need more flexibility? They should not be too much more than paying for both Super AFR and Dynoflash? Is there a reason for for you to go this route or you just decided to upgrade after dynoflash?
I had the Super AFR first. The Dynoflash came out with HKS filter lean low end fix. Also, with the dynoflash, you could eliminate the fuel cut, raise the fev limiter, adjust timing, and get the air fuel closer to optimum. All of this for $200 now. That is the best deal you can get. The super AFR was only $225 shipped. I only use the AFR at the track to tune in the air fuel ratio a little leaner than I normally run.
This route that I went is much easier to tune, and performs very well. IMO, the more simple you keep things, the fewer problems you will encounter. I like to drive more than I do tune. That is why I went this route. Seems to be working out good so far.
