Well, I've got about 2000 miles on my Evo and decided to take it to the track to see what I could get out of it. I thought I'd be the only Evo there. Turns out there where 3 others with 4000 miles or less on them.

My car is bone stock right done to the paper filter.

1st pass I ran 14.1 @ 96mph w/ 1.9x 60' with a 6500rpm launch and the car bogged down to 2500-3000rpms.

2nd pass I ran 13.8 @ 97mph w/ 1.8x 60' with a 5000rpm launch and a little clutch ride to keep rpm's above 4000rpms.

3rd pass I ran 13.7 @ 97.02 w/ 1.84 60' with a 4500rpm launch and riding the clutch to keep it at 5000rpm's.

All in all, I think I did good for my first time out. Just need to get more practice on the right rpm launch and technique.

Then again, I didn't buy it to drag race. But it's always nice to know what it can do.

What do you all think about the times? Any suggestions on launching?

How bad did your clutch smell after riding it on those launches?

Times are ok, the mph a bil low. The mph should be between 99-103. Was it humid??

Try to rev the engine between 5-5,500 rpm and quickly SLIP the clutch.

My .03 cents.

Sorry about that. I'm a newbie.

It wasn't real humid. Infact, the air was a bit chilly. I'm gonna go back this Thursday and see if I can get better.

Honestly, I thought it wouldn't last, but it wasn't bad at all.

You could smell it a bit on the 3rd run when the breeze blew by. Otherwise it wasn't bad.

Oh ok, I saw a red one at Bradenton speedway the other night, and the situation seemed simmilar. Even the smelly clutch on the third run. ;-p

You don't happen to work at NetPark in Tampa do you? Thats the only BBY I've seen around town and I park next to it everyday. :-)

Nope, that's not be. Must be a another BBY Evo.

You should tell him to come out to the meet on May 1st. Maybe leave a note on the car or something?

Just a thought.

Looking forward to meeting you on May 1st!

Btw, I launched harder lastnight when I ran 13.1's at the track and never had a problem with the clutch.

It's when I ran 13.7's that the clutch start to smell.

Maybe it needed more break in miles before romping on it. I dunno?
