what you prob do normally is feather the cluth. feathering the clutch is like when you let your foot off the clutch slowly. This makes the gear engage more smoothly, but also wears out the clutch pad faster. typically, the slower you engage, the slower the car accelerates until its fully engaged. you prob do this when driving every day.

drop or slipping is the opposite. this is when you are in the new gear, you just pull your foot right off the clutch really fast, or just slide it to the side and let the clutch pedal 'slip' up. you get a really hard and fast engagement, but its tough on the transmition. it puts a LOT of pressure on it all at once. If you do it from too high an RPM, you may get into some major trouble (IE: tranni rebuild).

thats how i understand it.....

that's dropping

when you slip, you progressively let go off the clutch until the clutch is engaged.

When you drop, you just rev and let go off the clutch without progression.

Try few and you'll get it.

don't slip too much and don't drop at high RPM.

slipping into gear and slipping the clutch are to different animals.

slipping into gear is just another way of saying, drop it into gear, which is just another way of saying, put it into gear. so, whatever, I wouldn't worry about it.

can you slip it into gear without using the clutch. 1-2, 2-3,3-4, 4-5 up or down? (Not N-1) My friends have done this before with different cars. can you do it in a EVO?

yes. You can shift without the clutch.
