And you thought you had skills! Check this out:
Look at the tires
The tires are about 4" wide, if that. That is how it skids so easily and doesn't flip no traction.
Drifting is a cancer in motor sports, it is like olympic wrestling compared to the WWF.
Drifting is all show, no substance, just like WWF.
I am sure it will gain fans across the world, since most people are fools anyway.
The guy was good at controling the car but whats the point?

Crazy for doing it around people, yes. But it's one of the sickest car clips that I've seen in a while. If you have any more clips post them. It never gets old to see some crazy driving.
Whats the point? Its fun thats the point. Drifting isnt meant to be taken all seriously, its meant to be fun. Just like wwf may occasionally be fun to watch, because its funny. No reason to take either seriously.

Racing and Drifting can both be loved and enjoyed... sorta like two chicks at once. Get with the program
Not that this is even "drifting". Sure, the guy does stunts and gets the car into drift-ish slides, but his antics don't need to resonate with a race track's turns and straights (whereas drift competitions have turns and multiple cars to maneuver around/with). This guy just gets some (un)open space and gets silly and tries not to hit anything.
He's definitely skilled at controlling the car, but I'd like to see the half hour of clips they threw away because he crashed into something or screwed up.

Tire tech? Look at the clip, drifting needs the worst tire possible, He is running spacesaver spares look about 3" wide.

This is like arguing with Ali G...
EDIT - this quote is so awesome. Sig worthy, even.
Ok, chicken little... Look - I think it's reasonable to say that somewhere in America, some dumbass kid will see this and try to do it and cause a bad accident... I think it's just as reasonable to think that there will be countless others who see the video and recognize the insanity for what it is and pass on the idea.
Have you been anti-drifting since "The Dukes of Hazzard"?
The point is that people like watching and doing it (drifting - as NOT displayed in this vid - I'm talking about legal public events). It's all over the place and will likely get more popular - all the more reason for profitable events where the public can get their fix/fill in a legit manner, organizers/performers make money, and much of that money goes into local government coffers with a stamp of approval for yet another form of motorsports - all of which adds clout to the collective interests and efforts (private and industrial) of everyone labelled an "auto enthusiast".
It appears that you incorrectly assumed that I was implying an A to B connection between drifting and lobbying money. It's more involved, but it's still simple:
A) Money to tire companies
B) Money to Sema from tire companies (I counted 5): http://www.semashow.com/content/?id=31630)
C) SEMA does what it can to make things better: http://content.sema.org/images/pdf/32714.pdf
Well, yeah... his tires weren't what I was talking about, nor does Jesus fly around with all them Reindeer. I was talking about tire companies pushing themselves to make tires that are more durable and/or capable. Sooner or later, something will likely trickle down. Look no further than drag radials as proof.
As far as my point, you completely missed it. Maybe I did a poor job communicating it, but I think the above explains quite well what it was and is (a rebuttal to your anti-drifting tangent).
The commentary was merely my .02 about the video itself... the original point of the whole thread.
Get a clue? I'd rather have another bowl.
Kind regards
Dream on, kids will try this on the street and there will be a massive crack down on all auto mods.

And? What's the point? It's fun to watch, because it's dumb... But that's about it...
I don't need to repeat how stupid some of your arguments about lobbying and tyre-tech are, sorry but that boarders on embarrasing...
And everybody that enjoys the WWF either hasn't got a driving liscence yet, **** for brains or something else that might be strange and/or not right.
I'm not sure if the same goes for drifting, because it can be funny to watch every now and then, for example on best motoring or little clips...
But I would NEVER get involved any further... Just a plain waste of money! And if I want to control my car, I don't slide it maaaaadly, but take it to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, THAT is control... Not Mickey Mouse sliding for fun and show-off...
MY .02 Cent...

Thanks, it gets lonely trying to be a voice of reason. It is nice to see someone else thinking along the same lines that I do.
I just want to see Motorsports that are a test of skill and machines.
I don't want to see style points awarded for the biggest show off.
Perhaps Drifters will move on to real motorsports, thats the only good I can see coming out of it.
IMHO
