shifting into 5th gear..

i have no problem shifting up down whatsoever...its just that...sometimes when i shift into 5th gear...my car studders a little..im tryin to improve that...i think my shifting isn't fast enough...but i still can't get myself to shift fast enough...sometimes i would miss a gear...and thats no good...

whats best way to fix that? show i get a short shifter?

Be best to first learn to shift without the short shifter. Just keep practicing, it took me a while but I got it pretty good now. When you do get a short shifter, replace the underhood and shifter base bushings at the same time. I'd recommend gettting the lancershop kit, its like 100$ and you get everything.

You will shift faster if you are not in a rush to do it. Be smooth.

be smooth and quick. 5th gear is odd. it doesnt feel right at first. and i know when u start out its like u go all the way to the right, then up. but as you get more confident with where 5th is you'll be able so just do a diagonal from 4th to 5th just like you do for 2nd to 3rd.

Practice, Practice, Practice.

yeah the shifter on the evo is a little awkward at first. i have had many others cars that i felt shifted more smoothly. anyway just keep practicing and you will get it soon.

this might sound dumb, but try shifting a little slower. I know I've tried super quick shifting and popping out the clutch and the car studders because the revs are too high. if you slow down a tad and put a little pressure on the shifter, it'll slip right into gear and not studder. The actual shifting action takes a tad longer, but its better for the car, and actually makes the car quicker overall because there's no studdering... Theres an article or post or something somewhere that I read on that and made mine SO much smoother. Just have NO idea where that article is...

That shudder has nothing to do with how fast/slow you shift - its how quickly you release the clutch .. Might want to ease off of it instead of letting go so quickly ..

..

lol shudder cause of shifting? lol ...
