i usually shift between 2700-3000 and still get 18mpg but i accelerate quite a few times atleast once a day 6 days a week, sometimes i shift at mph instead of rpm, and when the music is loud i shift from the way the car feels, other times i accelerate really fast and skip 1,2, and sometimes 3 gears at a time

Wow, you guys are mellow! Mellow for me is 3K, of course normal for me means that I've hit at least 110 mph once every other day and 120-130 once a week, average cruising is 85-90 mph. When going "***** to the wall", I shift @ 7800-8000 rpms, having cams allow me to stay in my gears longer, pulling hard all the way to the top, best mod I ever did!

2800-3000 RPM.. Currently developing bad habit of giving just enough throttle NOT to spool the turbo while putting around town, this means downshifting to a higher RPM if necessary to avoid loading the turbo (positive boost pressure). I know it doesn't make sense though..

Depending on whether or not you've had a tune that raised the rev limiter--your redline should be around 7.6k, but to be honest it's pointless to shift there because peak power happens at 6.5k for most of our vehicles.

*Oh and to get back to the question at hand--I shift between 2.5 and 3k for daily driving. On occasion I might romp on it from a standstill, obviously shifting around 6.5k. On the highway I cruise around 3k rpms in 6th (or 65-70mph depending on how you look at it.)

You can say that again. I got 220 miles on my first tank of gas, 200 on the second and only 150 when I went driving up some windy mountians for a while. Man, when you shift does matter to your wallet. I can get almost 300 miles out of a tank if I just cruise at 75 mph in 5th gear.

But why the hell did we all buy this car, to have fun and rev the engine a bit from time to time. I know that the fun starts for me when shifting above 5k and before redline. Most fun I have had is in 3rd gear above 4k on some twisty roads.

2400 - 4000 usually shifting at around 3k. Notice that it is easyer witht he Higher RPMS. I take it up to around 6600 - 7500 when running it hard (LOL Only once thus far) still breaking it in, should have 9k miles on her today. LOL
