Dead Hooking
Dead Hooking
Ive been practicing launching on my stock evo for a couple months now and i find the best way i launch is reving between 4-5 rpms and on the uprev, slipping the clutch. Though this technique works best i burn out for a couple seconds, then take off. Ive seen other evos launch there cars without any burns outs, just straight hooking (dead hooking). I was wonder if anyone knew a technique on how to do that.

to be somewhat productive and not just a smart a** if you want to avoid the wheelspin you have to release the clutch slower and maybe a slightly lower RPM. It's of course harder on your clutch. A little lite wheel spin is good BTW but if you feel the car "sitting there" then that's obviously too much
Are you practicing lauching the car on the street or at the track? At first, I practiced on the street a few times before going to the drag strip, and the wheels spun nearly every time. With the better/stickier track surface at the dragstrip, I encountered no wheel spin at all with the same launch sequence.
