HELP.. Clicking after changing gears; burning clutch (badly)

Ive been waiting a couple months now until I reached a good amount of miles, 2500 to be exact, to finally give my evo a good launch from 0-60. So, I decided to test it at 3k a few times; went well, but it wasnt enough thrill soo I felt obligated to break the chains off the bad boy and launch it at 6-7k. I def broke something after tthat. So, long story short after I burned the clutch, 3hours later I still smell the burning clutch, and now whenever I shift gears I hear a clicking noise after each shift coming from the center of the car. (Nvr heard the clicking prior to the god awful launch) Any ideas of what damages (and how much out of pocket) I did to my baby would be of much help. I dont want to wait til MONDAY to find out, bcuz I know my dealer will be closed.

Could be just the clutch, or you could have impacted / nuked your transfer case. That's around 4500 to replace.

Good luck, and that's way too high RPM to launch on stock I think. Should be closer to 5k max I think?

Yah 7k is way high to launch at. +1 on broken clutch, but possible something else let go :-/. Are you modded?

Negative on mods other than my weather techs...after driving it it 24hours later I do feel like when shifting the components of the clutch pedal and shift knob do feel quite a bit looser when shifting gears alongside a click after every up shift.

Hopefully the burning clutch smell is a good enough indication that you slipped it enough that the transfer case is okay. Take a look in the little hole under the transmission (pull out the rubber grommet) and see if theres any visible damage. In any case something got screwed up good.

Be careful when you launch your car.. its a fast, convenient and reliable way of ****ing something up.

How did you launch at 6-7K with no mods. Car from the factory is set for 5K?
