its when u down shift and instead of popping the clutch and letting the revs go up on their own... u guesstimate where they should be and when while the clutch is in u tip the gas

ex... 4th gear at 2500rpm if u go down to 3rd its gonna be aorund 2900 rpms

so as ur downshifitng with the clutch in u tap the gas to around that place and let the clutch out.. its suppose to be completely smooth...

i wouldnt try doing it until ur good at driving the car and are very comfortable with it... its a good way to burn the clutch if u dont do it correctly

cheers!

Basically, when downshifting you blip the throttle to bring the revs up to where they need to be in the lower gear. The reduces wear on the clutch and allows for smoother, faster downshifts.

The technique of "Heel/Toe" downshifting applies the same concept, but under braking. You press the brake with the "toe" of your right foot and blip the throtthe with the "heel."

Heel and toe makes a great impact to driving on a track or the twisty roads, allowing you to stop fast and be in the right gear when coming and leaving a corner. When done right you should just feel like your stoping fast and not feeling any down shift . I have been trying to master this for three years and its not easy. Start buy just rev matching then go to heel and toe with rev matching, it should improve your entry speed and exit speed by a lot! best of luck!

Here are some videos of what everyone is talking about.

Hard to see the foot work, and kinda ____ video, but listen to the engine:
