New Catback, popcorn sounds

Got my Cat Back 3" customized on a mandrel today at a local shop. It goes straight to muffler. Now I noticed the car is making popcorn popping sounds when I downshift without rev matching. But if I rev match it wont crackle and pop. What'd going on with this? Makes me worried.

Theoretically the Car has a fire at the back? What are my options or consequences with getting it fixed or leaving as is?

Just a little back fire. It's perfectly fine. The only way to cut it down is a better tune.

you're just fine, it's backfiring a little bit. It probably did before, but you didn't notice with stock mufflers

a backfire happens when gasoline vapor pops a little bit as it comes out the end of the muffler due to change in air pressure.

As you can see, a less restrictive exhaust would make this more prevalent-so actually-sounds like they made you a good exhaust

Wink

Ah okay. Its no wonder why some people weren't letting me switch lanes until they got ahead of me last night. Those TnT explosions are somewhere they don't want to be around. Is a 'street tune' enough to get it solved or would I have to dyno tune it?

even tuned cars will have slight backfires especially if you are on a track and running the car hard

It's perfectly normal, you're not hurting anything. Just wait till you get a turbo-back and shoot flames out of the back, you ain't seen nothin yet lol.

Hell yeah, it's awesome. I love going through tunnels and downshifting so fire rolls out the back. It sounds like a 12ga shotgun. What it is really, it's unburnt fuel going into the exhaust and re-igniting because the factory tune is really rich. If you're cat-less and muffler-less, it gets fire out the back pretty easy.
