Launch posts...
the ECU would have no way of knowing what gear you are in.
I actually launched a car in reverse by accident, in my defense though it was a VW, and their reverse is right next to first gear, so its easy to do, but you can bet I never made that mistake again.

I just meant that to say, that its possible the Evo ECU could monitor what gear you are in...not to say it does...just that if the engineers who designed the car wanted the ECU to have that information, it wouldn't be difficult.
I'll say this in the nicest way possible: You're asking for help on launching a car in a thread that was started by someone complaining about how there are waaaaaaay too many "how to launch an Evo" threads...do you really think you should take any of the information seriously?

Matt,
I have never been able to stand you or your single minded posts on this forum..Shall we all bow down to you now?

I cry a little every time someone posts another launch topic. Launching is WAY overrated unless you've got the money to rebuilt your car every 10,000 miles. I'm way over the "Driving Technique" section FILLED with 2-step and launching titles. There's not a WHOLE lot of "technique" involved here, maybe there should be one major launch/2-step/car self-destruction thread and everyone just calls it a day.
End of discussion.

Just playing Devil's Addvocate here but maybe not all of the members of EvoM are professional drivers, or work for a major company like WORKS, or get the chance to drive BMW touring cars. Maybe a majority of them are youger kids who get a kick and a rush out of their car accelerating very quickly from a stop. Maybe to them learning how to do that smoothly and without bogging is an accomplishment. I'm gonna bet most owners on here are under 25 and NOT professional drivers. They are daily drivers that like to make their commute less boring. But I could be totally wrong. This is just a guess too but you don't like drag racing do you.

Dave, if you think I was being serious when asking for launching tips you are in need of some help.
"most ECU's".. maybe, but last I checked we're talking about the EVO ECU here, and it doesn't have any idea what gear your in.
