sounds like a snotty immature opinion to me. find me something that verifies this then go start another thread about how to launch because there aren't enough in this section. then make a mistake trying to launch your awesome "race car" and start a thread in the engine/transmission section about revs going everywhere when you try to accelerate on the highway.

I don't have to find you anything, I know this for a fact because I was tuning VIII's & IX's years before you became a member.

Also I don't need any launch tips, it was a sarcastic response to this joke of a thread.
Maybe you missed the time in my sig, that was done back in 06, well before you became a member or even owned an EVO.

sure, because EVO = cool & civic = not cool. Real mature response buddy.
the type of car you own or drive has no bearing on the type of person you are, you would be a perfect example of that.

Wow... this got messy quickly.

I apologize if I hurt anybody's feelings, no bowing necessary, I do not intend to flaunt anything or be single minded. The intention of this post was to maybe try and consolidate the launch posts since to me they seemed to pollute this section of the forum. They were always the same and nobody seemed to take the time to look around (likely on the same page) for a redundant thread before they posted a new topic. That was my complaint. If anybody has met me in person, you know I don't try to flaunt anything, I try to be modest, listen to what people are saying in a conversation, and try to pick battles on topics I have some form of experience in. I only have regrets for what I've said in one thread, and I made amends with the person I was arguing with. If you disagree with things I say, then fine, but I simply think there are far too many threads about the same, very narrow topic. In one of them, people basically came to the conclusion that there is no reason to have much more than a very simple explanation for it since it varies so much car to car.

I understand that it IS fun to drive fast every now and then, but I also have seen first hand what launching CAN (not necessarily will) do to an Evo's drivetrain from when I worked at Works. I just feel like if this was a cooking forum, there would be 12 threads per page about how to turn on the oven.

Boy, looks like both of you are going to be buying X MR's and driving them in auto-mode then, huh? Very sorry to hear that, glad I could inspire such an exciting Evo-m-bonding experience though! Good luck with your wounds.

Well you can try and get a blood transfusion from Alwaysinboost... I'd give you some but I'm using it right now.

Matt, have you ever thought that road racing is like drag racing? everytime you come out of a corner you are trying to find the fastest way to get to the other end of the track with the highest speed you can carry? the repetitive nature of running the same course for 100 laps is like hitting the strip 100 times. Only advantage is the road course racer can screw up, loose a couple of tenths and make it up by the end of the track. a drag racer screws up, looses a couple of thousandths, and his day is over. It may not be your cup of tea, but ask AMS, Buschur, or any other big racer how many 10 seconds cars they have built that only have 12 second drivers.

Honestly, as I've said, I do respect drag racers, but if you're going to say that there is more involved in drag racing, you're wrong. Sorry. I'm over making people mad, so I won't go into this very deep since it seems that people get really hurt ever time I try to make my point.

I bet that if you took a drag racer right from the strip and put him in a road race, he probably wouldn't do as well as if you took a road course racer and put him on a strip. This is a vague point, but it should make some sense. Road racing is VERY complex, and carrying speed is a bit more complicated than you try to make it seem.

Once more, I have some respect for drag racing, but you're right, its not my cup of tea, I'd much rather drag race on straights, and use a new skill set on the corners.

Oh, and P.S.

That "making up time" thing is crap. Time is time, dude. If you lose a couple tenths, and you can make up two more, why don't you just run two tenths faster per lap? "Uh Oh, I messed up that turn, let me reach in my racing-pant pocket and pull out my spare speed...".
