What techniques are folks with Exedy Twin HD's using to launch?
What RPM for launch? Sidestepping or droppin the clutch for better results?

thanks in advance.

Dropping the clutch with a twin disc will end in drivetrain destruction.

I would do a very quick slip.

Stutter between 5500 - 6500 RPM depending on track conditions...quick slip. I have over 300 launches in this manner and no drivetrain destruction. I no lift shift the rest of the run. The Exedy twin disc is the best clutch I have ever had for sure

For drag racing my launch control is set at 5900~6000, I get the drivtrain loaded up and then just slip it very fast. 1.6 60' all day For autox I just rev it up to 5500 or so and slip it. I love this clutch

anymore imput on this topic. Im taking the car to the track tonight with the same exact clutch. I figured a quick slip becuase you cant really slip it alot due to the way this thing grabs, But any other imput would be fantastic

Well, ended up having to remove my Exedy Twin HD because for some reason it wasn't holding over 5k rmp- would slip constantly, even after 500 mile breakin. So was sent back for warranty and now i have ACT HD and ACT Street Lite Flywheel.

I will say that I liked the engagement and pedal feel of the Exedy a lot more than this current setup I have, and will try an Exedy again after this one wears. The ACE/Streetlite combo feels almost stock in pedal effort and engagement. The Exedy was a world of difference- no bite - bite instantly with very little slippage. Seems like a great clutch, just didn't work at the time. =/

i hold the clutch right below engagment to the point where the car wants to roll.... just before the tree goes i floor it and slip my foot up (slipping) without dropping it as fast as i can.

if the spins the tires slow down the slip of the clutch or right after you launch let off the gas 10-15% until the tires hook.

if it bogs add a little tire pressure or come of the clutch slower.

if you let off the clutch too slow itll bog and burn the clutch a bit or just burn the clutch...

launching depends on ur tires and power... i run 255/45 kumho mx's at 18psi with 6500 rpm launchs. i just chirp off the line hard....

before i had 255/40 falkens at 20psi with 6k launchs i would spin no matter what... most of my launchs were without the step to have more throttle control than coming out of the hole wot

good luck and keep trying... launch on the track isnt the same as the street so find out what works well for you

cheers!

Im going to guess that this takes alot of practice and lots of getting used to as far as launching wiht this clutch. I had a horrible time trying to launch it tonight. But i think i know my problem and it was letting out way to fast becuase it would just bog down to around 1500 rpm or so. But im going to keep working on it.
