Launching
Launching for each car is a little different... all you do, if you have 2-step, is:
- press in the clutch at a dead stop
- press on gas while clutch is engaged and car is still at a dead stop
- ease your clutch slightly until you feel your car about to move, we will call that the "sweet spot" (the more you drive your car the better and more fimiliar you will become with the engaging point of the clutch). ease the clutch out a little faster once you hit the "sweet spot"
- if you smell burnt clutch, you didnt ease your foot off of the clutch fast enough... if you bog, you eased off too fast!!!
- PRACTICE!!! its the only way you will be fimiliar with your car!!!
- Once you find the "sweet spot" and learn the speed of easing your clutch out, launch on!!!

This is how I learned and was taught to launch my car. I am not responsible if you break something because of your attempt to launch your car.

Best way I found to launch any Turbo/AWD car that doesn't use launch control is to just blip the rpms up/down, then go WOT at one of the down sweeps of the tach and release the clutch all at one time at the target rpm. For a GT35r setup thats around 7k. Did it this way in an EVO8 to run low 11's and have been doing it this way in a hand full of A4's and S4's the last 8 years.
Video of me doing clutch drops in my A4 with drag radials, my 60 fts were 1.5-1.6

I have an 03 evo8 i also have the factory launch control set at the factory 5500rpm. Although i can guarantee the car was reflashed. Why would someone reflash a car and not bump up the 2 step a tad.

So does this not work on the Evo X?
If I have a stock X with a stock clutch, how do I launch it?
Clutch to the floor, rev to about 5k, ease out on clutch until sweet spot, then let go of clutch fast?
Thanks

My experience is anything less than 5K is going to bog... I would guess that launcing an X would be very similar to any other version of AWD car.
I'd like to see someone try a reverse launch!! hah.
