launching
ok i am new to the forums and was wondering (this might be posted some where else) but for some reason i cant get my car to launch... i have tried everything even letting someone else try.. has anyone else had this problem??? if so please help me... thanks lisa
What do you mean you can't get it to launch? Do you have the MR or GSR? If it's the GSR then launching a manual car is pretty straightforward, obviously, but the MR is not a true manual so it's different. I believe you have to be in super sport mode and then you just hold the brake with your left foot and then press the gas pedal all the way down until the rpms bounce off of the artificial rev limiter, then let off the brake and you're on your way. BTW, launching your car is stupid and will destroy your clutch in no time. The factory clutch is not meant for that and neither is the car. AWD cars like the evo are road racing cars, not drag cars. If you want to drag race this thing, then you are going to have to buy a stronger clutch, and if you don't know how to launch a car then learning on a 35 thousand dollar car that has as many expensive parts as the evo does is not the best idea.

Hmm.. GSR
Anyhow as long as you didn't pay for it, or if you did and have extra money saved up for a new clutch.. Then hold the ASC button down for 5-6 seconds to turn off the traction control...
Put the car in first gear, clutch in. Rev it to 4-5k for a second and slip the clutch/push the gas... (slipping the clutch can be tricking the first time on an AWD car. JUst feel it out.. If you don't get it right, then try it again(in 15 minutes or so to let the clutch cool down as the stock one sucks)

2 step is a rev limiter that you can program your stock ecu to do..
you set it at desired RPM then you will limit at that rpm to luanch the car,
its nice becuase you can build boost and have consistant luanches
