launching
Launching in an EVO is pretty damn simple.
i have an EVO IX MR, and from what i know the 08's have the same 5k two step on first right? if so, launching is very simple.
1. Put the car in first gear
2. Take the slack out of the clutch. let it out until you find the engagement point, and try to hold it as close to that as possible.
3. Press and hold the gas pedal to the floor. The car will rev to 5k and bounce off the 2 step.
4. Slip out the clutch until you feel it grab, then let go. The Slip/Dump method has always worked best for me.
5. Do not take your foot off of the gas until it's time to shift to second.
it's just that simple. that method netted me a 12.82 ET @ 107.41 in a basically stock EVO IX MR (HKS carbon ti catback, no tune, no other power adders). 1.86 60' because there was no way around the water box, and the track temp was 45*. spun tires through most of first.
just practice it, launching's not that hard. if you launch at anything lower than the 5k limit, or try to hold it at the limit without having the gas floored, you're going to bog.
just put the gas pedal to the floor and don't lift until you shift to second.
good luck.
