How do you shift fast?

No, I don't rev match when I try to speed shift, since it takes a while for the revs to slow down for the next gear. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you want to shift faster than that?
If you want to shift in less time than it takes the engine to drop to the matched RPMs for the next gear, there is only one way to get rid of the lurch -- burn it up in the clutch. By releasing the clutch pedal slowly, you will dissipate some of that extra engine energy into the clutch -- but you know that's not good for clutch life, right?

Given some of the responses here, you need to clarify what you're really after -- quickest acceleration, smoothest acceleration, or least stressful (on the car) acceleration. The techniques are different.

I don't do this in the Evo, but I sometimes "double pump" on the gas pedal to rev up the RPM before I engage the next gear. It seems to help smooth the shift a lot but don't know about mechanical wear.

I probably shouldn't be doing this:

1. Ease back on gas pedal
2. Engage clutch
3. Shift gear into neutral
4. "Neutral rev" the RPM up
5. Shift gear into next gear up
6. Disengage clutch/Back on gas pedal

I do this when I am not driving at high RPMs all around.

Well, do you have an Evolution??? If you don't, I won't be laughing because he would be the one laughing as you since even though he can't shift, he can burn you away.

Hey now...I'm also young, so I haven't owned as many cars as you (I'm assuming).
