Your arnt drifting an automatic unless youve got hella power... For the ES...yah i am shure you could....try poping the clutch at a high rpm to break the front tires. and ebrake for the rear...thats all i can think of.

Man I didn't know how dumb some of these people are. If you bought a lancer OZ to "drift" you picked the wrong car buddy. My advice, sell your car and get a s13 or 14 or even a tureno, then you can drift. Untill then do us all a favor and don't try to "drift" in your fwd car. and the guy who posted a couple of post ago, i'm not even gonna start with you.

well....you drive a front wheel drive, so drifting could be difficult, no problem power sliding thou. Best thing you could hope to do if you want to get into driffting would be to throw sum junk tires on 16 inch wheels in back ad nice rear coil kit, (keep front stock) and ties, swaybars, and rear and front struts. Iv been drifting for about 3 1/2 years and have gotten pretty good at it. but then again i also drive a nissan rwd 240sx convert, but most of you know what an s14 eng. and a tien damper kit is, so i added that about a year ago, and i wasnt dirfting i was driffffting.

or you could have saved your money and bought a real DSM

GSX!!!!!!!!!

thats okie atleast you can make your domestic look import with the right stickers

if u want good info go look at some more dsm Qs and As

Either one. Although Vince is leading me to believe it's easier in the manual, but we're going to take his car to an empty parking lot some time and see what an auto can really do. But I can say my Lancer had no trouble drifting on demand (short little off-throttle with steering) with some decent tires on it.

Talk about bringing a thread back from the dead you guys

Ok, this is actually the same for autos and manuals (tranny has little difference in drifting, as I found out this week):

First, find a reeeeeaaally open space, dirt or paved (easier on dirt for obvious reasons). Now you have to get into a turn and bring the car to the brink of control, holding the steering wheel in a medium tight turn and medium throttle. In the Lancer, this usually makes all 4 wheels start to lose traction. Then, just let off the gas as quickly as possible. This will bring the tail around into a drift. To hold the drift, you will need to use the right amount of throttle (a lot for the Lancer) and some countersteer. When you are pointed in the direction you want to go (if you are actually aiming for something), straighten the steering wheel and hit the gas. There will be a delay in response to this due to the lack of LSD on the Lancer, but it will grab eventually. This is how I took many of the sweeping turns in autocrosses until I upgraded the suspension. Now I can't get the tail around, need to learn how to drive it all over again I hope that helps, let me know if I missed anything. Once again, DO NOT try this near solid objects or on public roads. You have to actually drive to where your car loses control and traction, and that is not good if you leave no room for error.

I could drift my 63 horse power Ford AssFire around the corner as long as there was 2 inches of snow on the pavement.

Man that was fun.
