I launch mine at auto-x all the time at 6500... BUT that is with my setup and it works real well for me.

The best 2 step launch RPM is what works best for you as a driver and your setup. Most cars are different so it is worth spending time to figure out what works for you. Keep in mind that your driving style and setup may be very different than the other folks who are posting here so there is no right or wrong answer.

I recommend the following:

1. Read up on how to properly launch your car I.E. slip vs dump the clutch.
2. Set your tire pressure to a desired pressure to when you would be launching the car.
3. Call a friend.
4. Pick him or her up.
5. Drive somewhere you can safely practice launching the car.
6. Have him or her get out of the car and check how much your tires are spinning or if you are bogging down the car when you launch it.
7. Set 2 step RPM up or down to find the best result.

OEM 2 Step Setting is 5,000 rpms.

My minor bolt on Evo 8 MR is tuned and set to 5,750 rpms. I have yet to launch it though.
