Talking Drifting......Rally?

I like drifting, yet i like it a lot more when I see Rally (even though in rally its not "drifting") Equal tequniques can be gained however by studying rally and applying it to the streets. Rally is so nice, so very nice, I like it a lot, a very lot.

Drifting on street=bad mkkayy? those WRC guys are professionals and they do it on empty roads. If you try to drift by watching the WRC it means you are experimenting on public roads with other cars and people around them, really dangerous. Check out the i-club forums, many guys there ended up putting their WRXs and RSs in a tree or a ditch because they thought they knew how to "drift" find a track or something but keep it off the streets.

yeah, a little bit of courage and a fwd car trying to drift usually has bad results. but it can be done..I've now been able to 180 the car on two sep occassions without the handbrake!!! oh yeah, in autoshop parking lots on friday after they closed both times...so don't try this without your seatbelt.

Agreed, public roads are not the best place for "drifting", but Rally is a different scenerio all-together. All that was meant to say by this thread is that equal techniques can be gained from both Rally to drifting and vice-versa. Where you decide to do you drifting.....I could give 2 ****s less, but just don't hit my damn car or any other lancers out there for that matter.

Let everyone do what they want...

I can understand how drifting would be a problem in Los Angeles, due to the highly congested streets. I've had my share of crashes oversteering in a FWD car, and my share of close calls drifting into a corner when a car was approaching, but being able to miss it with my own technique. I understand that it is dangerous, and even amateur...

But when nobody is around... And there's still the heat of the scorching sun on the ground, and you see that little light of opportunity to take a turn perpendicular to the road and enter at amazing fast speed..... You can't tell me to take it to a track. Besides, that's what differentiates street racing, from track racing, and the underground, from the surface. Have you no romance in your driving?

Do you have AB's in your car? Handbrakes are worth a damn half of the time anyway because people don't use them at the right time.

It's simple to do a 180 without a handbrake....go to an auto-x...you'll get your drifting and spinning fix
