launching
launching
ay yo don't know if this is the right forum, but yea i have an auto 03 oz, and i know that when i drop a auto turbo in mine, if i want a good time, i need a good launch, is the only way neutral dropping? or is there a better way to get more launch from an auto....b/c i heard that neutral dropping is really bad for your transmission... any help?
definitly don't neutral drop...extreamly bad for the auto tranny. instead just hold the brake down and press on the gas to give the engine a load. then when the light turns green let go of the brake and gas it even more (all the way).
I'm gonna move this to driving techniques. There are a couple of threads in there about launching, but I don't think any of them address auto transmissions. But I'll second the idea that you don't want to neutral drop. I like the suggestion posted above, although you should technically be letting off the brake and hitting the gas at the 3rd yellow (something I learned after getting a bunch of 1.1+ reaction times my first time out).
Also, a limited slip differential would be a good idea, if it works with an auto. Otherwise, you're still likely to slip one wheel while the other tries to propel the car forward.
