1/4 Racing Techniques

For those of you who are experienced with 1/4 mile racing what would you suggest to get the best time you can with your vehicle? Shift right at redline? Keep the gas down and do what some would call a "powershift"? I'm just curious. There's alot of little things you can do to make your 1/4 mile times a little bit better and I was just curious what you experienced drivers would suggest? I've been racing on the streets for awhile. I've finally came to my senses and I'm new to the LEGAL races at the track we have here in Sacramento. I'm just curious on some advice on racing techniques that will give me those faster times I'm looking for. Or maybe everything I'm doing is already good enough. Let's get some good advice from those of you who have tested many techniques on the tracks

1. Shift at peak power
2. Feather clutch at launch until the wheels are hooked at WOT This is so you don't bog down the engine
3. Practice sifting faster
4. Loose all un-needed weight
5. Powershifting is heavily debated. It is simply not lifting throttle between shifts. Try both ways and see what works best for you.
6. Loose the all season tires

After the launch it is essential to have the quickest possible 1-2 shift that you can have with your clutch not slipping. This allows you to reduce your 1/8 mi times while at the same time getting to the 60' marker quicker. I like to powershift my vr-4 whenever possible, but right now my RPS pressure plate failed so Im getting soemthing else. Also keeping the throttle floored negates the neccessity for the turbo to have to "respool".

What was your 60' time, and what tires were you using?

I disagree.

1. Power really has little to do with acceleration, let alone peak power. Some other concerns are how much the power actually drops after peak, and where your 1-2 shift will put you rpm-wise once you're in second
