I have a Lancer LS, I found that doing the brake and holdingit and stompng on the gas really works welll as well as, if you come (or have to come to a dead stop) if you start off in 1st or second gear depending on how hot the engine is... you can take off pretty quick... Anyways.. maybe I'm doing it all wrong heh but I'm fixing to drop a mivic engine in so it will all change that heh

 

safest thing to do is just stomp on it...from what i've observed in the past year with my auto lancer is that the harder I accellerate, the higher my RPM's get before it shifts. Usually you feel the most pull between 3rd and 4th right around 3.5k- 4.5k RPM

I've done the whole braking thing and not only didn't my engine sound like she liked it, I didn't get much of a launch either.
