Does this reflash from the dealer help if you have an actual misfire?? I know some guys are complaining about the code setting out of nowhere, but I have been having a real misfire occasionally in 5th gear on the highway only, I have changed and regapped my spark plugs to .22 and it didnt help. Does the ECU reflash eliminate the problem or misfiring or just the problem of code setting without an actual misfire? Also Al, I had a custom dyno tune, do you still have that backed up if I get the dealer to do the 0300 fix?

I just put in Cams in my MR and it threw a PO300 and a nPO335 - Crankshaft position sensor malfunction. So the MR's have that Misfire problem also? Or was it before of the PO335? Also why did this come up, the Sensor isn't backwards. Could it be when they were cranking it over to prime it and move the gears to TDC it threw then and is just left over?

There is one theory that suggests this is actually not a real misfire at all but the computer retarding timing as a result of picking up vibration from the transmission knock sensor or cam position sensor.

Most of the cars duplicate this condition in the exact same way, so I believe it is stemming from the same manufacturer's defect in most cases. What this defect is exactly seems to be the million dollar mystery and still hasn't figured it out.

It occurs in 5th gear mostly at partial throttle when you let off and reapply the gas. a dadadadadada vibration occurs until you let off the gas completely. At that point if you can usually get back on the gas with out it reoccuring for a while. The severity and frequency is variable among different cars. The SES light usually comes on, but has been known to go off by itself for periods of time in some cases.

I do know that has changed entire transmissions, plugs, cables, computers, etc. only to have the problem resurface before long in most cases. What is baffeling to me is that some people report experiencing extended periods of relief from changing any one from the above list!

It is a crying shame, but many people were turned away with minor mods and told it was their fault for modding the car. I guess no real surprise there - why break with 10 solid years of sticking it to the customer.

On a more interesting note a few stockers who had the problem checked 3 - 6 times with no resolve opened case files and got their cars bought back under the Lemon law and had their legal and out of pocket repair expenses repaid as well.

This DOES NOT eliminate the 0300 codes from comming but it does help them on many cars.
I just did this a month ago
still getting the po300 code at idle and one po304 code
any other options than removing the "idle flash" off my dynoflash ?

I am getting this code as well. I had cams installed and a flash and starting getting it all the time. it would last for days or until i went to autozone and had it cleared, but it would come back within a day or two. Sometimes it will go off on its own and it will happen on the freeway or at an idle, it doesnt seem to matter the driving style. My cars is an 04 and i am worried about taking it to the dealer because of my flash and cams.

Al, you are coming to seattle in november to custom tune my car. what are my best options

any opinions are welcome. I have no driveability issues currently, just the annoying SES light.

Only thing to really "fix it" is to remove the Idle flash part of the reflash (at leat in my case) , but then you have lummpy-lump idleing againg . I hope there is a solution to this beside removing the idle part of the reflash

I had this code pop its ugly head two days ago and just cleared it today. I have an 04 RS with HKS Intake, Megan Racing Downpipe,Cat-Delete pipe, Cat-Back exhaust, and Walbro fuel pump. I run a Hallman Pro RX with the setting at 22PSI on 93 octane. I had the Boost controlling flash for a few months and no problems, but when I went to the custom flash to allow for a different intake and more boost I have had Misfire issues at Idle. This is the first time it has logged a code. I did not get the standard A/F readings with my last flash so I cleared the code and put it on the Dynojet at my buddies shop to see where I was as far as the A/F's. I was amazed to see 10:1 A/F's from 2800 RPM to Red line. why so rich? Al do I have to get the Dealer to flash the fix then come see you for a new flash or can you just reflash and see if that fixes the problem.

How about your car Al, do you get the misfire? And if not, what is it that you have different?
