Hey Al,

I wonder if it would be possible to make 400+ awhp and 400+ ft.lbs of torque on 93 octane with the Alcohol kit?? Keep the same smooth power band, just make a little more power.

Are you the guy in Hickory? I grew up in Lincolnton and live in Asheville now. Still very undecided about modifying my car; I wonder how you'll feel about it down the road?

I am in Hickory.

Wonder how I will feel about modifying my car down the road?

My thinking is this: As long as you don't do stupid mods on your car and have it tuned safely, you should have the car live about 80% as long as a totally stock car. I had a 1995 Talon Tsi AWD that ran 20 psi of boost or higher since it had 2000 miles on it. I won races all over the East coast with it. I sold it with 62K miles on it and it was still running like a brand new one. It was tuned well and had the right parts on it.

If you go and do stupid stuff to your car and dont have it tuned correcty, then you will have problems early on.

NC Evo Guy: Thanks man. I am glad you like the test pipe.

I concur - your car was without a doubt one of the most well put together Evos I have driven and it is a real joy to drive. Any further in the performance area will start to compromise driveability and durability. IMHO - the perfect daily driver

This is but since you're in hickory do you run into asian people driving civics and supras picking to get a race.

Nice numbers by the way.

Honestly I am not sure - within the next week or two I will have a guy with your same set up basically tuned with the alcohol and will know what the limits of that turbo are

I can say for sure that you could make the same whp on pump gas as you have on that dynio sheet with the alcohol - more I am not sure

As far as I can tell, my husband (Smogrunner) and Turbodawg has almost perfectly comparable mods. Smoggie makes 5 more whp (372) on race fuel, but Turbodawg makes around 25ft lbs more torque. Let's put our heads together and figure out exactly why this is without flaming.

Here are the basic hardware differences:

Smogrunner doesn't have:
Apexi Power intake filter
EBC
SAFC2
SSAutochrome Exhaust Manifold
HKS DLI2 Ignition plug n play
Greddy 660 cc injectors

Turbodawg doesn't have (unless I'm wrong):
cam gears
Xede (which takes place of reflash, ebc, safc2)

Where does the torque come from?

Cam gear settings - they lower the tq and raise the upper power

It would be really cool to overlay the two files. Smoggy says he'll do it with Winpep7 if T-dawg or Al will email the file to him at smogrunner @ comcast.net.

id say manifold and injectors. when you lower duty cycle dont you get torque... correct me if im wrong. i say more tq. increase when i tuned in large injectors in my car than hp. was a big diff.
