Track Results Very Upset

Ok just went to the track to test my EVO that has only full exhaust.

Results:
That crappy 5K rpm limiter sucks my car dies when I try to launch it
3rd pulls normal
4th dies up top from 5k rpm to 7k rpm it feels like Im standing in the same place

NO track times as the dials where shut off because its a street driving night, yes like if you were driving on the street.

But based on previous experience with my WRX I think my EVO is in the 13.4 to 13.2 range making like 104 mph. My 60ft with that problem I had Im guessing would haven been like 2.1 or so. Its not that bad but it is still crappy.

Friday I think Im going to install some of the parts myself, since my house looks like a frieking speed shop with everything on the damned floor. I will keep everyone updated, but any comments advises will be well appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Randy

Hey Randy - how far is that famous drag strip from where we are doing the dyno tunes???

Don't worry after we do the truning and get all the parts in there you will be well into the 12's

BTW - what are all the mods you are planning to install before the tune ? Al

Yeah, the evo falls flat on its face up top in 4th without cams. Car may have been pulling timing or something as well.

i had the same problem as well. i have the 05 as well and when i launched it the best i could do is a 2.0 60ft with a 14.01 ET@100mph? noone there seemed to understand it and i didnt either. i was extremely embarrassed because i ran that in my srt-4 stock. i know i have to work on my launches and i'm goin to work on some things to get myself and the car right next time i go out. checking for bost leaks is step one for sure. lots of room for improvement and i'll be right next time i go out!

good luck next time,

matt

Al:
Here are the mods I will install, and honestly I dont want 12's I want a 11.8

Mods:
DNP Header
Injen Intake
Upper IC PIpe
Lower IC Pipe
HKS 264 Cams
Hallman Pro MBC
Walbro 255 fuel pump
JIC Downpipe
Perrin Cat Delete
Magnaflow Ti Catback

And 5 Gallons of C16 to make that dual stage tune you do at Buschur, one setting for pump and the other on C16.

Thanks,
Randy

There is a mod you can do to get rid of the launch rev limiter. I think you just have to unplug a harness somewhere. You can do a search and find it. It'll help with your times.

How can you possibly know your times would suck? Can you honestly tell the difference in a couple 1/10 of a second? You might be running a 13.5...you might be running a 13.2...who knows without a time posting?

Because Im not a drag racing newbie.
I've been doing drag for quite some time and I know how a car performs in the track based on how it runs and the mph I see when I pass the finish line, so like I said my car is in the 13.5 to 13.2 range or somewhere in between. But like I said what concerns me is the top end of the car which sucks. Cams and stock manifold I bet has to do with it. I felt the same with my WRX, when I installed a header on it the top end improved greatly.

Anyways lets see what happens next time.

The drag strip is like 20 minutes from the Dyno, but at the time when get out of the dyno there's no way for us to visit the track.
