you should be able to do a low 13 stock.. hmm What rpm are you launching at again ? and when are you shifting?

Dont think its boost if his boost gauge is reading correct unless the boost gauge is hooked up Near the turbo and not off the Intake manifold.

Yeah, my boost guage runs from the vaccum hose of the intake manifold and has always ben rock steady. I don't think it is a boost problem but I will pressure check it next week.

I launch the car around 5500 and I shift at 7200. My ET's are fine for the trap speed I have. I am concerned with why my trap speeds are low becasue they reflect power. If I can pick 3-4mph the ET's will take care of themselves.

Those who can run low 13's stock are on a very short list. Try mid to 13's to low 14's.

I'm in the same boat the one and only time i ran a 12.9 was with a high 1.7 60' launching near 6 grand but after the 1/8 I only picked up 21mph with a trap speed of 105. On average I launch between 4500 to 5000 range and cut a mid 1.8 60' and get around a 13.1 trapping 103 but still after the 1/8 I only pick up 19-20 mph.

When I was stock I was picking up around 22-23mph after the 1/8 and trapping 100 mph. I don't get with my mods why my traps are low and I'm not picking up more top end than when I was stock. There are other modified EVO's at the track picking up anywhere from 23-25 mph after the 1/8 and their trap speeds and ET show it. Granted my times are better than when I was stock but I was hoping to trap much faster than and extra 3 mph than stock.

BTW, no boost leaks and everything is running sound...mystery to me.

Yep, that is the same boat I am in. I know I can still drive the car better but I don't think I can gain 3-4mph over my current driving. I will check a few things this week when I am off work and update.

Well thanks. Your 110mph trap says a lot though. You are clearly making the power now you have to put it to use. I am getting a lot out of my car but I should be faster. I am seeing stock '05's run the times I did. 103mph traps are garbage.

Evol VIII and J Dog..............next time you guys go up to the track, run it near empty and check to see what kind of traps you guys get. Then buy some 100 oct or better and and re-try. If you're traps come up, then obviously timing is being pulled.

I ran 1.84 60ft 12.6 @109 at a shizty track with high altitude. Im hoping for low 12's with a better launch and in englishtown nj..much better track conditions

Congrats, you have a strong EVO ...... However, you cannot just blame the driver in every case. The truth is that there are lots more EVOs that run low 14s and high 13s stock than there are low 13s and practically no stock EVO will run 12's..... This is a good thread because it allows ppl to post their experience and validate that their cars are not unique. I like to see these ppl post because my experience with my forst EVO 8 is more in line with these ppl that with the unusually powerful EVOs that most ppl write about. 109 mph track speed denotes pretty high power. to run 13 flat the traps will prolly need to be in the 104-106 mph. My car with 259 whp ran a best of 13 flat at 105. That was with 264 cams, cam gears, AEM EMS, fuel pump FMIC big injectors, etc. Other guys get the same results with a MBC, exhaust and a flash of some kind... Go figure

Fact is, not all EVOs are created equal... Of course, the driver can make a huge difference too, but the trap speeds can be a definite indicator of whp..... sub 100 is a sub 200 whp car 100~103= 220~230 whp and so on. 110 mph is a very strong car....

You don't need big trap speeds to get good ET's... aka, you don't need lots of power to get down the track fast... more of it is in the driver. I ran a 12.544 @ 107.36mph when I had about 300whp (1.754 60').
