Fuel was not an issue for me. I said I was on pump gas in my first post but I had a little 110 in it to take bad gas out of the mix. I was around 95 maybe 96 octane but I didn't turn the boost up at all.

This is a good thread because it allows ppl to post their experience and validate that their cars are not unique. I like to see these ppl post because my experience with my forst EVO 8 is more in line with these ppl that with the unusually powerful EVOs that most ppl write about. 109 mph track speed denotes pretty high power. to run 13 flat the traps will prolly need to be in the 104-106 mph. My car with 259 whp ran a best of 13 flat at 105. That was with 264 cams, cam gears, AEM EMS, fuel pump FMIC big injectors, etc. Other guys get the same results with a MBC, exhaust and a flash of some kind... Go figure

Fact is, not all EVOs are created equal... Of course, the driver can make a huge difference too, but the trap speeds can be a definite indicator of whp..... sub 100 is a sub 200 whp car 100~103= 220~230 whp and so on. 110 mph is a very strong car....
i know i wasnt blaming the driver just felt like busting out a lame fast and the furious quote sorry dont take it to heart....allot of it depends on weather conditions and altitude level the track at lebanon newyork is known to be a slow track compared to new england dragway in new hampshire and english town in new jersey

I'll be going to the track again this coming up Friday so I'll try some race gas to see if I am pulling timing.

Well I got around to checking some things on the car out today. I have no boost leaks and my compression test came out better than average. From searching it seems most people are in the 170-175psi per cyl range. My compression test came out 195-195-190-195. So it seems I have a tight wound motor from the factory. THe only thing that didn't look good were the plugs. They seemed a little to white and lean looking. Maybe with the weather starting to heat up hear in South Florida I am starting to get timing pulled across the board and I am just down on power. Any other thoughts?

Sounds like you have some issue that causes the ECU to pull timing. My guess is either you are experiencing some detonation perhaps due to lean conditions or there is something that sounds like knocking to the ECU..... My other EVO was like that. A huge pain in the butt. What finally fixed it somewhat (by then I also had low compression and blow-by) was putting back the stock intake and MAF, and having the Xflash done to scale the big injectors and adding the XEDE and custom dyno tuning by Dyno4mance. The car made nearly 300 whp at 19 psi on a DD dyno... Of course, YMMV, etc.

I will be in Florida next week - I would be happy to give your car a free check and look at the a/f, timing and re-adjust as needed for you. PM me if you can make it and I will set you up with a appointment. I want to get to the bottom of your situation.

BTW - maybe you posted this before but do you have awalbro fuel pump? Thanks

That's cool of you Al! I wish you came around the Northwest, I could use a check too.

Evol VIII,
I checked my plugs yesterday and they were a little white as well so I went ahead and changed them out. I'm going to the late night drags this Friday and I'll be running on some race gas so I'm hoping to pick up some more top end. The only thing that I can think of as well is that I am pulling timing up top.

Hey Al, still waiting to hear back from you. I checked the South Florida trip thread and the 7:45 spot on the 1st will work best for me since I will miss the least amount of work. Let me know if this is going to work. Thanks again.

While this is a great offer, I can see it wasn't a 'real' offer since you haven't responded to the several PM's I sent you or this thread. Are you going to keep to your word here or what?

Just so you know - the reason why I did not repond to you yet is becuase I had previously been trying to move another guy to that 7:45 p.m. time and have not heard back from him yet - that and combined with the fact that I have been in Texas for the past three days and today is a Holiday which I spent working on the dyno. I am certainly not a guy who sits about playing pocket pool lately. Anyway.

Patience is a virtue

After your obnoxious post I am slightly less interested in spending my time and effort to help you - - - luckily for you I'm still curious to get to the bottom of your problem

My suggestion is for you to come by at about 7:15 - 7:30 and I can have a look at your car and see what is going on and we can take it from there. Any more idiotic posts questioning my word or any similar comments and you are 100% on your own on this one. Remember the world does not revolve around you.
