143 mph in 1/4
Over the past two plus years I have been playng with my Evo, I have been moving slowly more and more fast.
When I was last at Englisghtown Raceway I was inspired by Gadiel's amazing tuning on Big Valley's car, (with NOS) it was clear that the Big Valley car was making massive power - in fact enough power to destroy the drivetrain. Having seen the amazing results of Gadiel first hand on Big Valley's car and also on the car of Ivan Evo. . . I decdied to follow the direction to NOS. This week I was watching some Videos of John Shepherd running his DSM to a record 8.55 at 177 mph and I just kept watching them over and over until I just decdied - that looks like fun - its time.
Last night was my first time testing my Evo with a 35 shot of NOS and I was working to improve the launch and dial in the two step and anti lag.
I went to ATCO raceway for the Tuesday night test and tune. It was the most fun I had in a real long time. No race, no drama, just having fun and playing with my car. Two plus years ago in May 2003 it was at ATCO that I ran the first 11 second pass in a US Evo 8 with a 75 shot of nos on my almsot stock evo with a sfac.
Running NOS on top of 40 psi of boost was new to me so I was careful to tune slowly.
I was amazed how well the car was running even with a track that was very slippery and unprepared.
My best time was a new personal best in speed of 10.204 @ 143.29.
Sadly, after this pass, I made a small mistake with the AEM NOS controll and wound up spraying the NOS as I was starting the car to come to the lanes. Immediately my intercooller pipe exploded like a pipe bomb!!!!!!!!!!
I think the car is ready for the big Mistsubishi day at Englistown on the 23rd. I have a few small improvements to make and a new intercooler pipe but overall I am very impressed with the new turbo set up.
Tomorrow I will be testing a new design Magnus intake manifold and a new larger Buschur Racing fmic kit on the dyno.

I can't believe what I saw but I saw a heavily modded evo run 10.2 (at least twice) at Atco tonight. The car had decals all over and it appeared to be sponsored but it was street legal. It had Conneticut tags but the interior was pretty much stripped sans two racing seats and the dude's lap top. He was an older guy too which made it strange. I didn't see one single 03/04 cobra there which made the night even stranger. I didn't even thing that evos, no matter how modded, could run this fast.

BTW your base flash on my car is still holding strong. poured a little C16 in there & it still runs 20 degrees of timing in this 110+ AZ heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! highest top speed to date is 165mph. i will need a new final drive to do any better. keep it up!!!!

One guy with a fairly wild street mopar called me out and I beat him good even though I was all over the track in 1st and 2nd. The best part for me was doing the awd burn outs in the water box which at Atco you cant drive about - I would kill for a video of that one!

I was just happy that the bang was not followed by a lot of smoke and fire.
This NOS is no joke.

I like the way the car ran with the NOS - I feel there is a lot of potential.
For the DSM shootout in August (which is my favorite race of the year) no NOS is allowed so I have to work out the car with out NOS in any event.
