This year I will need luck !!!!!! With a untested set up and no tuning done yet its down to the wire

The good side of all of this is that my business of tuning is doing very well and that is what has taken all of my time the past few weeks and left me so short on time for preparation

Good luck with the swap & tune, sounds like a lot of work. Never fun doing it at the last minute.
BTW I've run a few variations of the GT35R using bigger wheels and they all turned out to be blue turds, but maybe your testing shows something different.

Also dialing cams is not magical or trickery, it's just very time consuming and $$$$ do to it properly, especially if your doing it for a customer. Also it's no fun doing it on our engines, you have hydraulic lash adjusters, little room for a degree wheel, very tight to measure valve lift, ect..
When you made 45whp more, what hp level was that at and did you lose torque or spool-up as a result?

Martin - the cam timing guy is no joke, he is very experienced and wise and he really knows his stuff. The 45 whp variation was on exactly the same boost. It was a A - B - A test with the A and the A within 2 whp.

The TQ remained the same only it held it longer in the power band. Also the power was the same till 5500 - all the gains were from 5500 on

IT IS SUPER imporant to note that in this case the car was OFF on the cam timing. Another car which was tested was very close with the factory settings and it only picked up a few whp. Some cars CAN be dead on with the factory cam gear settings. Most are off. It is possible to pay a lot of money only to find out the settings were good. A trickey proposition.

Its a big job and takes significant time as you have to remove a lot of stuff from the side of the engine.

He deals with the hydrolic lifters my moving the wheels very fast with a special wrench and having good eye sight and cordination. I took a lot of pictures of the equipment he uses and I am writing a short magazine article about it so all the details will be out there.

I am also working on trying to arrange a cam tuning trip to the states for Mr. Time - I would like him to adjust my gears.

As for the blue zombie - I have not done a lot of testing on it. It looks promising - but the track will be the final judge.

All I know is that the GT40 is hard to drive and abusive on the car without a small shot of NOS to spool it up. With my old GT35R set up it was a constant 10.00 - 10.10 car and very easy to drive. So for this race my thinking was to go with something more consistant and reliable as given the nature of the race structure you may have to go a lot of rounds to reach the final.

Next week for the WRX vs EVO shotout I will have the Gt40 back on

"I was in Puerto Rico tuning some evos this weekend at the world famous Sporty Dyno Jet and I was taken to school by the international cam timing king Harold Time who was able to pull 45 quick whp on TOP of my tunes with the expert maipulation of cam gear timing. I intend to write more about his methods and how it works at a later time, for now - he does not just set the gears at - 2 / -2 or any other set forumla - he actually measures the cam timing on the car and sets the gears to totally dial in the individual engine."

This bit of info is huge!!! Can you elaborate
