Let me know when you have alky kits available. What fluid are you recommending for daily driven? Also I will have the kit install before the tune. I believe there's a test feature on the kit. Do I even need to test the kit after installment or is this done on the tuning day? If so do I test it with water first and then drain it out and fill it with whatever fluid I plan to run? I'm assuming the tank should be empty until the day of the tune?

Sorry for the questions but I need to make sure things go right. Looking forward to seeing the magic of alky + dyno tuning
You test the kit every time you run the car - details are on previous threads which I made on this forum - search function

I suggest 100% denatured alcohol

You should test it when you install it - then unplug the positive wire until we tune it

What options do I have?? I unfortunately can't go to Ohio that week instead but I may be able to make it back to Chicago for the following weekend but can the CAMS be in there that long without the tune?

Thanks!
Yes with alcohol you need a road tune for sure

Dont woprry about the cams - just take it easy and drive normal - no heavy boosting it will be fine

Thanks. Any idea on the HP difference between methanol and denature alcohol?? I'm assuming most or all denatured alcohol is the same. Also if I'm tune with denature alchohol, can I run methanol later? Any benefits from doing that.

Ah... Runoff cars? Which ones?

I was thinking of going to the Runoffs anyway. This makes the trip even more tempting.

Ha! Wouldn't you know it. I need a re-tune and thinking that I've missed you for the year you come back to Ohio right after I get back from my deployment. But I've already ordered the AEM EMS from Buschur and hope to have everything installed and running before I get back .

Quick question.. Is there normally enough time to get a tune in with race gas (100 octane)?

Basically I want my map to be with 93/94 octane with boost levels around 20-21 but I'd like to do a pull with 100 octane with boost in the 23-25 range just to be sure it's safe.

I'm not even 100% sure I can get 100 octane up at Buschur.. That is all I can get locally around here but I can afford to drive up on a tank of it.. and I really don't want to bring my own

Now if my freaking paycheck would post to my acct I'd be set!

Al,

I have Buschur's Stage 3 and they sent my ECU to you for their Stage 3 flash. What benefits can I expect from a custom dyno tune? Will this basically smooth out the hp curve that I got from the parts or can I expect to make more hp? If it's just making a more smooth dyno sheet I don't think it's necessarily worth the money, but if it means I'll find 20-30hp then maybe it is (in my eyes, at least). Sorry if this sounds dumb but I'm just wondering how a base Stage 3 mail-in flash and a custom flash can be that far apart from each other (I realize that all Evos come from the factory a little differently hp-wize and that you might tune some of the differences out but is it really worth the $325 to do it?)

I am also assuming that since I'm a Buschur customer that you tuned through mail-in that I am intitled to the $325 rate, right?

Thanks,
EvoLee

IOt depends on the individual car. In many cases we can get a lot of power with custom tuning and in some cases if the tune is dead on there is little room.

What I would suggest is that you come by - we can put the car on the dyno and do a base pull look at the curve and the a/f and make a determination if any additional tuning can help. I believe they charge $100 to go on the dyno so that is all you would spend if no tuning was needed.
