still having issues with my car

al, since you never seem to pick up your phone or return my voicemails when i call you i figured that i would post up in your section of the fourms. (by the way not answering your phone is a great way to back up that 24/7 customer service ) but back on topic, i recently had my car brought to you because i was having issues with power loss a few months after your custom tune on my car. i did all of the main checkups on my car to make sure that it was not something that i was overlooking before i had my car brought to you. everything on my car seemed to be in good shape and i had myself and many friends stumped on what could be wrong so i turned to my tuner. when the car was brought to you you showed up a few hours late first off, and then you proceeded to tell my friends that there was nothing wrong with my car and that it was a waste of thier time to have come down there. (once again great customer service, expecially since i have brought alot of business to you) when you were "finished" with my car you told me that it produced 333whp, it sounded like great news because i figured that the issue was resolved. you told me that the main reason for my power loss was a faulty boost gauge, i took your word for it but was skeptical about it. however, i have proof that the issue is still there and my "problem" with the boost guage is actually not a problem at all. i hooked up the vaccum line running off my defi boost gauge to a compressor with a regulator on it, the regulator was set at 15psi, it showed 15psi on the guage, i then hooked it up to my old hks boost guage it turned the same 15psi, i then hooked it up to a freinds autometer boost guage and it hit 15.5ish psi. therefore my boost guage was not the problem and you were trying to bs me. now for proof of a loss of power, at the beggining of the track season i pulled consistant 112mph passes. i have a good amount of seat time and consider myself a good driver at the track. a few months into the track season my car out of nowhere was trapping 106mph consistantly, nomatter temp, humididty, or track. this is when i started checking everything like i was saying earlier. tonight was my first time at the track since you "fixed" my car. it was about 75 degrees with not alot of humidity. the car pulled 12.8 at 106 three times in a row but i let the car cool down after each run. once again showing a loss of power. there were two other evo's with the same mods pulling consistant 111-112mph. i even threw racegas at it and upped the boost. my best pull of the night was 12.835 at 106.98 with a 1.686 60' this was on 110octane and 25psi. now try to tell me that it is driver error now. so for once can you give me the time of day and legitamatly look at my car and firgue out this issue before it causes serious problems.

and for those of you who dont know my mods are, 3" catless turboback, mbc, 255 fuelpump, 272 cams, intercooler piping, intake, bigger fmic, dynoflash custom ecu, rre x clutch and no its not slipping

i have tried changing the plugs, checking for boost leaks with a compressor, compression test, and checking if i skipped a tooth of timing

I dont appreciate the way you have written your thread here.

If I recall your car correctly, it is the one you had your friend bring down to have me look at. Since they brought down two cars, I cant remember which one was yours. I know that I spent several long hours working for FREE to try and figure out what was going on with the two cars.

One of them ran fine and just needed a little more boost to reach the same power on the dyno as before.

The other we found that the SAFC was either defective of needed to have the wires soldered to proceed.

In any case - I provided my time for FREE to try and help you with what you claimed was a tuning problem.

If you think the problem was still there the way to deal with it would have been to contact me in a nice way and re-schedule another appointment - and this time bring the car yourself.

Instead you chose this path.

Basically beuase of the way you have drafted this thread, I have no further interest in trying to help you to resolve your problems. I dont want to work on your car anymore or tune your car again.

There are many other tuners - I would suggest you pick one.

There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. I won't respond to this kind of insulting remarks.

Best of luck with your car.

Of course if you had informed me that you were getting a CEL for your mass air flow sesnor then maybe we could have diagnosed your condition a bit better

Its funny in this business how things go.

Here we have a guy swearing his ecu flash is at fault and he checked out everthing with his buddies but he neglects to mention he is getting an occasional MAF sesnor code which prob means he needs a new MAF sensor and possibly a retune with the new MAF sensor

Just for the record - if you have an intermitant failure on your mass air flow sensor you are going to have problems with your car - period

The MASS AIR FLOW sensor is the eyes of the ecu which controlls all fueling and timing

When its not working right your car is screwed

So he has enough money for all of these mods on his car, yet goes to autozone to have them check a SEL? Can't afford your own scan tool?

Maybe someone should skip buying mods and having their car tuned and purchase a factory service manual, scan tool and go take some night classes at the voc tech........THEN come complain on the open forum after you brought a car that had minor issues to get tuned, and were unhappy with the aftermath

In this day and age of computers and electronics. You would think some EVO owners would be up to date enough to understand this stuff a little more. Guess not. Easier to pay "shops" for work or installation of more parts. Instead of getting all the real problems worked out first. Its not that difficult.

Al, I was checking my dog for fleas last night, and discovered a big boil on his butt, I tried to think what could have caused it, and after a long day of pondering it, I have come to the conclusion: ITS YOUR FAULT!!!!!!!!! I am getting sick of these people whining about what you have done, always in the negative way, My kids look like you, my wife yells your name out when we do the horizontal mamba, YOU are the problem to the worlds ills now? I dont have your stuff, but know alot about your stuff, and you rock!!! 99.8 % of us know that, the other ones get me mad, I think we should call the wwwwhhaaaaammmbulance for them. they need a hug or a huggie change! Keep up the good work, and everyone who knows Al and his work will disregard this poster!

I gotta say that this is such crap. I'm getting tired of these people posting this on here. "Oh Al, I want a full custom tune, but I blew out my piston rings. It doesn't run right now, and it's YOUR fault". Blah, Blah, Blah. Al knows what the hell he's doing. If your car is having code problems, etc, you might want to have that fixed first. I always tended to think that was common sense, but I guess not.

Oh, and Ps, Al gets paid to TUNE cars. NOT to diagnose problems. If he helps you out with some diagnosis work, it's because he's trying to help you. If you need problem diagnosis, go to the dealer.

AL, I gotta tip my hat to you. People have criticized your demeanor and the nature you deal with things, but for a guy like me, I enjoy blunt. Blunt and irrational, I dont, but blunt is cool.

I too, am tired of watching this board with a bunch of know-it-alls and complainers and people who are totally bastardizing this whole community.

Al, on an aside, if you're still checking this thread-Im gonna bring my car to get it built and install my turbo kit in a short amount of time. Would you be willing to tune my AEM EMS? Just curious. Keep on truckin, killer. Dont listen to this horse$hit, its getting tiresome.
