Case study 129 - Dual Stage Power !!

Guys the technical achievement of the dual stage flash continues to shock even myself

Here is a customer who was with the gentleman in case study # 128 who had the Buschur Stroker kit

He wanted a safe conservative reflash and the ability to turn the boost up and hit the track in his native Dubai where he is shipping this car next week along with the evo in case study # 128

His mods are

2003 Evo
Injen Intake
AMS 3" exhuast
Walbro fuel pump
HKS 272 / 272
Forge UNOS MBS
APS BOV

Dyno Flash dual stage reflash - this was the high boost level at 26 psi tapering to 20 on race fuel

IMHO amazing power with the small hot side

The way it works is he lowers his boost to 21 psi on pump gas and makes 340 whp and TQ - when he has race gas he just raises the boost

Big Al, I put some octane booster in the 93 pump mix, to see if I would notice much difference. Holy torque monster!! I've been more than happy with the cammed/custom tune evo, on pump gas, but I couldn't help really enjoying the added performance with this dual flash. I didn't even turn up the boost. I can't seem to get away from running higher octane - its too much fun.

It only takes effect if you turn up the boost. Octane boosters don't really help either.

Nice numbers, 340WHP on pump is pretty good.

The ole butt dyno dyno would beg to differ. Isnt that the point of higher octane - extracting greater HP/TQ(a function of advancing timing, ignition with the dual flash).

First of all, that doesn't give you higher octane. It barely works. Secondly, it's not triggered by octane anyway. It's triggered by the higher boost. If you don't turn up your boost, then higher octane goes to waste. Higher octane without a change in boost and tuning can only be helpful in providing increased knock resistance in the event that your current tune was already knocking to some degree.

The butt dyno is extremely inaccurate.

Regarding octane boosters; some work and some don't. Torco Accelerator for example, works as advertised.

I'm guessing this works by the effect that turning the boost up has on what Load/RPM cells that the engine runs at. The engine would, so to speak, run on a different Load/RPM curve. Am I close?

Is this something that you do with all of the flashes? Or would I had to have requested it when i got my car flashed?
