DynoFlash Help

Long story short, my wipers randomly turned on today and wont shut off. I have tried everything from unplugging the battery, to a new fuse, to turning it off and on again and they still wont turn off.

The dealer seems to think its the custom reflash i had done in summer, but not sure how that is possible since it just started now. They want to reflash the ecu, and i wanted to find out that if they do it, will i loose my custom flash and if so, can i send the ecu to have the file loaded back on. Not sure if it matters, but its an '05 evo.

Please help!!!

Thanks Al

How is a flash going to affect the wipers? Did Al add timing to the wipers.LOL! Likely a malfunction not related to tuning.

SO THATS HOW AL GETS DOWN THE TRACK SO FAST!!!!!!!!jk
the fuse box for those is under the hood, up front. did you check if one of the "relays" came loose? I dont think there is a correlation from the flash. interesting to say the least!

These dealers never cease to amaze me with the moronic and stupid excuses they can dream up !

of course the ecu flash has no effect on the wipers

If they read the shop manual it would help them diagnose the issue

that is what i tried explaining to them, but obviously they didnt really listen to me. I tracked the fuse down both inside and outside but it still is going. I wasnt sure if the wipers are controlled through the ecu or if there is a secondary unit that controlers the wipers.

I checked all the fuses and relays in the engine bay and none are loose or blown. Just at a loss at this point

No need to be a dick man, i am just trying to diagnose the problem. I never said it was because of the tune. I am just trying to figure out all the possibilities.

Al, since you dont think its the ecu you can go ahead and delete the thread. Thanks for the help

I am not sure what it would be, other than a relay or a fuse. I see you have an 05, and not an 03 like I have. you are talking about the front wipers? DId you take it to the dealership and show them? I will ask my Mech. tomorrow if you still have the problem. I wouldn't re-flash anything. Someone else on here might have the answer before I do. I will let you know tomorrow AM. Anyone know if there is a Service Bulletin on this? FOr the 05's? Later.

No need to delete the thread - I find it a great example of what goes on at the dealerships

I'll never forget when they voided a guy's whole warranty b/c he put a turbo timer on a stock evo

Anyway - i would look at the switch on the steering colum or the fuse relay

if they reflash your ecu just send it back later and i will re-install the flash

I agree with AL again. dont take it to the dealership. Once you get "flagged" by one Dealership as having a VOIDED warranty, if you go to any other dealership, they type in your VIN, and see the warranty is voided, and you are screwed. My car has not been "Flagged" as of yet, and I make sure it isn't. I have a good relationship with my Dealer, and make sure you do also. I will see if there are any bulletins on the wipers for you today, and check the fuses/relays etc... I will answer back in a few.

I also know someone who had their warranty voided because he didn't put ADVANS back on the car when he got new tires! how stupid is that!

Well, thanks for all the help guys. I am going to go back through all of the fuses and relays in the engine bay as well as in the car. Maybe i missed something for some reason. There is another dealer that is pretty good with modded cars so maybe i will take it there and see what they say. It was a rough ride into work without wipers

UPDATE:

My service guy at the Mitshu. dealership says there is NO Bulletin on this, but he thinks the problem lies in the Wiper motor "park switch". I guess its in the wiper motor itself. He is looking at the schematics, and will call me back ASAP. Will edit this post when I know.

Ok, he said:
1. open the fuse box under the hood. 3"X1" cover. push down the FRONT ECU, make sure it didnt come loose!
2. Check the IOD fuses (push in ones)
3. If it doesnt stop, or correct the problem, it is under warranty. This ECU has nothing to do with the Dynoflashed ECU.

Hope this helps some. Good luck and keep us posted.
