Thumbs up EVO IX mail in flash review part II

I want to share some more info on the mail in flash from Dynoflash. We had the Dynoflash mail in ECU for over a month now and we couldn't be any happier.

I tested the two step launch control on the Evo 9 today at the track, my Defi gauge shows a generation of 3-5 psi of boost by holding the engine at 6000 rpm.

The tachometer shows 8000 rpm before it cuts off between shifts.

The car does not smoke at all, there are absolutely no issues with iddle with the engine in cold or hot conditions.

No issues of detonation.

If you are looking for something simple, reliable, durable, stealthy, affordable that makes your car go fast don't look any further, Mail in flash from Dynoflash is a great product.

This is a very worth mod that you should have in your car. Evo9grl went 12.6 with this mail in flash,3"TB,CAI and MBC .

Carlos

Glad to see that it's working out for you
But is the launch control working? A friend of mine
with the dynoflash launch control can build over 10psi

I can only say that perhaps your friend has a 03-04 Evo 8 which perhaps spool up much faster than a 05 Evo 8 turbo nad faster than a Evo 9 turbo.

I was showing the boost to 3 people and I read 5psi at one point. I think 10PSI sounds to me a little bit too much but who knows, I don't have a lot of mods on te car either.

Yup, he has a 04.
That sucks that 05+ can't get more boost off the dynoflash launch control.
But it's better then no boost =)

No, 10+ psi is normal, regardless of year. Mine fluctuates right around 10-12psi while on the 6k limiter. Hell, the regular 5k limiter builds more than 3-5psi, so I don't know what's up with yours, Carlos. It could be differences in the boost guage, but I dunno...

Carlos, Rob here, what was the mph on the 12.6 run. On the 12.9 you were at 105+, which calculates to 314 whp for your car weight, around 380ish at the crank. Very nice, and the gauge was reading 3-5psi from my point of view as well.

Whoa, I don't know what calculator you're running, but that's more like 260whp, not 314. Hell, I had less than 314whp when I ran my 12.26@110. Don't rely on any calculators that aren't designed for AWD. 314 sounds more like the crank HP on a 105mph trap.

Rob, I also weighted the car 3226lbs without me and 3428 with me. The run that you saw was 12.95@105.66. Then I ran the bike and finally I made a final pass on the Evo 9 12.63@107.27.

I only ran the bike twice. My goal was a 13.99 and 91-92 on the bike. These were the runs.

1st run) r/t .009 60' 2.168 14.63@89.34
2nd run) r/t .012 60' 2.072 14.38@90.02

My bike is not for drag racing, it is a dual sport rated at 50hp, what caught my attention is that my bike was a spanish Bull, that sucker weighted 500lbs dead on empty, 702lbs with me siting on it.

14.3 @90 for a 50hp and 700lbs Motorbike is not bad in my book .

Back to the subject of power, I estimate the car to have somewhere around 280whp on a Mustang Dyno. I am taking the Evo 9 to the dyno next week just to see. I don't want to speculate power numbers, I think I am right in between what Warrtalon claims and what you(Rob) claim.

Cloudy has similar mods and puts 303/303 on a Mustang Dyno, he also ran similar times(12.5@109) last night at Firebird(Phoenix).

Rob, we were two set of eyes watching the boost gauge reading 3-5 psi when I reved the engine at 6000rpm to build boost. I am not very familiar with this system but definately I am far off from building 10PSI.

Rob, could you please tell me what were your 60' times on your Yamaha r6? Thanks!!

Carlos

Warrtalon and Rob(Fastrob),

This is a guy from Phoenix(Cloudy) that runs similar times and speed with similar mods. If he makes 303/303 on a Mustang Dyno my Evo 9 shouldn't be that much behind(I think).

We both have a 3"TB, a CAI, a MBC and a flash(his being a ECUTEK) mine is stock ECU.

Yeah, Carlos, I was just referring to the 105.xx mph run. With your final mph of 107.xx, that's more like 280-290 on a Dynojet. I know you are used to a Mustang dyno up there, but that one is reading just like a Dynojet, so don't get it confused with Buschur's or anything.

Ok, I got ya! I will dyno the Evo 9 either at Vividracing or Mynes Perfomance. Either way I want to compare it with My MR Dyno readings or Cloudy Evo 9 readings.

The calculator used was for NHRA conversion from trap with car weight, found it on google.

Anway Carlos, on the R1, the 60' times were between 1.95 and 2.05. Not great but the best time of the day was a 10.77 @136.66. With a 2.05 60' If I could have put my best 60' time on that run should have been 10.5-10.6. By the way the R1 weighed 406 with the fuel light flickering, probably 1-1.5 gallons remaining. So around 395 bone dry.

Thank you soo much Rob. I just needed to compare my Motorcycle 60' times with any other Motorcycle bike. My 2.1 and 2.0 don't seem to bad after all.

I maintain my goal is a 13.99 on that bike(2005 BMW F650GS bone stock). My gearing is very short, I am in 5th when crossing the line..

Rob, I will call you tomorrow or Monday to settle your mods before Al arrives.

Ok, cool, the guy on the grey GSXR 1000 06 said he was doing hi 1.7 60', and said he felt slow out of the hole, I was impressed anyway. I trapped higher than him but a 1.7 is a 1.7.
